Better than using a claw hammer and block. You can grip nails with little or no head on the nail

            Comments about The Extractor:

I love this tool. I restore historic homes for a living and there is nothing out there that I have found that matches the Extractor for pulling nails. For years I had been using end cutting pliers but the bevel of the cutters don't allow you to grab a nail at the surface of the wood. The Extractor solves this problem. The design allows you to grab the head of the nail at the surface of the wood. Once grabbed, just rock the handle down and out comes the nail. The long handle provides excellent leverage for nails large and small.

It isn't completely foolproof. If the nail is flush with the wood you will need to dig out the head. One trick - if you can access the nail from the back side of the wood - such as with trim that has been removed - pull it through the workpiece versus back through the direction it was driven. Also, I usually put a shim or flat bar beneath the rocker section to make sure I don't dent/crush the surface when I pull the handle down.

At first I thought the cost was a bit on the high side. However, this is a professional quality tool. I use it almost everyday and it belongs in my Top Ten must have hand tools. For tools in this category, quality is always way more important than cost.

            I highly recommend it.

              Comments about The Extractor:

This IS the alternative for pulling trim nails and staples.
For years I have used 8"nippers to pull fastners through the back of trim to keep the face pristine. The problem was, if the fastner was stubborn and you applied more pressure the nippers would cut the fastner.
The Extractor grips and pulls! All your energy goes to extracting. The long curve design reduces marring.

              Comments about The Extractor:

The extractor works well to remove exposed nails and does the job with the leverage it creates rather than having to place pieces of wood under a hammer claw. For nails that are not exposed, the Nail Jack is perhaps a better choice, at least to start the extraction.

Pulls nails from the back side with out breaking off most fasteners while preventing surface damage. A heavy duty tool that is awesome for any fastener 1"-4". It needs to be offered in 3 sizes.

                  Comments about The Extractor:

I have been a carpenter since about 1985, I now lots of old carpenter tricks and have every kind of catspaw, pigsfoot, flatbar, foobar etc. You can try nippers but I find mine just cut the nail making it even harder to remove. these work exceptionally well. I use them frameing/finishing, for pulling nails and staples. Aggressive teeth never slip, never breaks the nail, pulls finish nail heads clean thru, NEVER marred any material.

Nice pliers. They feel good in your hand and they have worked very well for me. Well constructed. They can also be used as a parallel jaw plier with some size limitations.

                      Comments about The Extractor:

My gal and I have been remodeling a home built in 1850. Stripping the walls bare and then rebuilding them up to modern standards. The extractor has proved its value in time and frustration savings. It easily removes broken and bent nails. If you can get a hold of it with the extractor then it will pull it out. I highly recommend it.
