Comments about Wooden Puzzle - Don't Count On It:

My two teenage great nephews are difficult to buy for, so I usually just put some money in a card at Christmas and present it to them. The Don't Count On It appealed to me as a novel way to "wrap" their gifts. I put two gift cards in the puzzle box and let them have at it. No one figured it out, not even the engineers in the family, though some were getting pretty close. It was one of the most entertaining gifts ever! I was, however, disappointed in the fact that the drilled slots did not align, causing only one magnet to engage at a time. The slide piece stayed in place, but the loose magnet rattled around inside. While that may have added to the mystique, the product nonetheless could have been machined with more precision. I'd give a 5-star review for the entertainment value (priceless) and a 3-star for the quality of the product; hence, the compromised 4-star rating.

Comments about Wooden Puzzle - Don't Count On It:

I gave gift gas cards to "kids" aged 20. They appreciated the cards but really had fun trying to figure out how it worked...made Christmas just a little more like when they were two years old and the best part of the gift was the wrapping paper!

Comments about Wooden Puzzle - Don't Count On It:

after reading other reviews on this product and it's magnet release issues, I decided to try it myself before I put my husbands gift inside. The craftsmanship of the top slide did not line up and hung over the dimensions of the main body of the box, poor visual and craftsmanship. The magnets would not release when tapped, rapped or pounded on a solid surface. Finally the magnets released when rapped on the concrete floor on a piece of indoor/outdoor carpet. ugh!!! After I gave it to my husband, he could not get it to open until he gave the try on the carpet covered concrete. He said it was a fun idea but a very frustrating gift to give someone. I think that if it performed as described, it would have been a fun event. (1) Since the top slide is a poor fit, we believe that the holes misalign and keep the pins wedged and cannot fall away from the magnets. (2) When sharply tapping on a solid surface the pins seem to bounce back to the magnets instead of releasing fully.

Poorly made. Holes mis-aligned, preventing magnets from falling into place. I expected better quality. This was received as totally unusable. Very dissatisfied with item.

The magnets are too strong you have the hit the thing so hard that it actually cracked. and it still would not come loose. Not fun at all. I thought it would be cool but does not work at all.

Small Challenging, with very POOR craftsmanship, needs to be better fitting, so you can't see metal rods from the side. Use less powerful magnets have to hit it too hard for younger child.
