Great product, but I had to laugh when I saw the way it was mounted. Had the person who mounted it actually read the enclosed instructions, they would have discovered that it has to be: mounted so that the top is a minimum of 6 inches above the top of the object on which it is mounted and completely out in the open, i.e., away from anything that would cause precipitation to be directed/misdirected (splashed or partially blocked in any direction). Oh, and make sure you don't allow liquid precip. to freeze in it (when you're measuring snowfall during the winter) because it's plastic and it'll crack.

Have this snow and rain guage on our deck, we love it! Would like to have had measurements on snow part of the guage not just for the rain. I love that you can actually see the smallest amount of rain or snow. Great product, if a little spend-y. :)

I have been on the lookout for a good rain gauge, and this is it. We don't get much precipitation in New Mexico and I like to know how much we get when it does rain or snow. Easy to set up, plus it's made in the U.S. by a small local business!

I have had many rain gauges over the years--but this is the best. It is easy to set up, easy to read, and easy to empty. It now stands just outside my window. I can read (to the nearest 1/100th of an inch) the rain totals from my computer desk without any kind of magnification.
