I am a Civil War reenactor and this cane fits perfectly into my impression. Although this is in no way a detriment, I had to remove the rubber tip as these were not available during my time frame (1861-65). It's easily returned for the 21st Century.

AS ONE WHO IS HANDICAPPED IN WALKING/STANDING THIS IS A GREAT HELPER. MANY COMPANIES MAKE WALKING STICKS OR CANES, BUT TO HAVE SOMETHING THAT IS UNUSUAL AND A PIECE OF HISTORY IS AN ADDED ATTRACTION. SOME PEOPLE HAVE ASKED ME WHERE I BOUGHT THE CANE. THE LENGTH IS PERFECT BUT SHORTER PEOPLE CAN ADJUST LENTH BY SIMPLY CUTTING OF THE UNNEEDED LENGTH AND PUT THE RUBBER TIP BACK ON. THE CANE HAS A HOLE DRILLED ABOUT 6 INCHES DOWN THE SHAFT. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT IS FOR BUT IT DOESN,T HURT ANYTHING. IT HAS A LENGTH OF RAWHIDE THROUGH THE HOLE. OVER ALL IT IS A GREAT TOUGH CANE.

This stick has a lot of charm and feels wonderful in the hand. While I've used a number of canes for my mobility, nothing is like the feel of wood in your hand.

My Pop's is gettin' up there age wise, been tipping over now an then. Tried to get him to use a cane for some time now, which just griped his butt! As luck would have it in his mobil home park north of Precott, they have a "pet bore" roaming around, sent him Abe's cain and your bore catalogue. Told him to use it to ward of that nasty critter on his way to the mail box. He loves it. Fortunatly no bore's have been harmed in this story!

I use a cane at night on rough ground because I had polio as a kid. This is the second cane I've bought and I love it. Beautiful construction.
