I purchased this product just in case of an emergency in my husbands wood shop. I hung it by a string attached to the handle of the first aid kit which is on the shop wall. Peace of mind is priceless.

Comments about Duluth Trading 25g QuikClot Silver:

My husband was on coumadin (a blood thinner) for over a year to prevent over clotting (prior stroke). After a trip to the ER over a simple cut on a soup can lid, Quick Clot made all the difference!!!! It wasn't a deep cut, but because his blood was so thin, he couldn't stop the bleeding (LOOKED LIKE A MURDER SCENE). Quick Clot was applied w/ pressure and saved his life or a certain blood transfusion. The absorbant bandage allows you to maintain pressure while allowing the Zeolite (clotting agent) to do its job. It burns like crazy, but when you're life is on the line, who cares! Also recommended by any Coumadin Clinic you talk to. We kept it in glove boxes, first aid kits, and my husband's work bag (he works in a jail). I truly can't say enough about this product. A little spendy for something you may never use, but is [$] worth a life saved if you DO need it. great for those w/o bleeding disorders too, just if you get a severe laceration or puncture or God forbid hit an artery!!!

Comments about Duluth Trading 25g QuikClot Silver:

Something to keep in mind about these products... be wary about which grade you purchase, because if you come across military grade Quick-Clot without realizing the difference, you will be in for a massive surprise if you ever have to use it. The current GI issued grade is made to be used on traumatic battlefield lacerations and is in fact, a cauterizing agent. IE. it stops the bleeding and seals the wound via a nasty chemical burn.... this product is truly meant to be one of last resort, and will scar the site to which it is applied.
I am posting this so that you are aware of the difference.... the product being reviewed here is one of a much lower grade, though still very effective, it is much milder and generally safer, though still a measure of absolute LAST RESORT.
Bottom Line: It can save your life.

Comments about Duluth Trading 25g QuikClot Silver:

It does work! However, it is not something you apply unless you think you are experiencing heavy, life-threatening blood loss. Never apply to a superficial cut or scratch.

Unlike some of the reviews have stated, it does not promote healing. It is designed to stop massive blood loss.

I don't own this over-the-counter version. I am sure it is a smaller and safer to use version of the GI product. But I would 100% recommend it for everyone who lives or does risky activities more than 30-45 minutes away from an ER.

This is definitely something you want around when handling power cutting tools, hunting, high-energy sports, etc. You should use it along with a constricting band or if you are really in fear of bleeding-out - a tourniquet.

People on blood thinners probably should not apply this simply because a minor cut won't stop bleeding. It would be like using a fire hose to put out a candle.
