Every vehicle we own has one as well as in backpacks in the event one of us becomes stranded or lost in the woods or while cross country skiing, backpacking. Doesn't replace GPS locator offered by many ski locations so always check one out if headed into back country and use the log-in log-out journal....makes the Search & Rescue folks pleased to know it is being used.

The bad reviews of this product are due to people using the product incorrectly. The product is not a faux police light to be affixed to your vehicle while driving, but an emergency beacon to be affixed to the car or put in the street behind a disabled and stationary vehicle, and works as advertised. With regard to the switch being difficult to use, the directions suggest you use a key to depress the switches, though I found no difficulty in pressing the switch with my fingers. As for complaining that it takes a screw driver to change the batteries - c'mon, people.

The only thing I'd change is having stronger magnets installed for
a vehicle to be able to drive with it on its roof for safety in bad weather or
"limping" home.

I gave this to all family members at Christmas..they all were happy about it, but the "Hunters" were more excited about now having another tool to keep track of each other while out in the field. Peace of mind knowing that, if they get lost or hurt, they will be highly visible for Responders to find them!

Yearly I try to give emergency preparedness gifts to my adult children - this fit the bill this year, especially the sons who are travelling in extreme weather conditions.
