This is not a tool for opening really hard-to-open packages or a heavy-duty tool, such as for opening those hard plastic packages that are so hard, but in most cases, this tool comes in very handy. Opening letters or most mail packages right away, etc. - well, this thing comes in handy. I keep it on my key ring and it is small and indiscreet until you really need it....

Ordered one because I liked the concept, but it broke within a few weeks. The clasp broke so it can no longer be attached to the keyring. Unfortunately, makes me question the quality of other Duluth products.

I keep this handy gadget on my keychain; it doesn't get in the way or poke through. It's small enough to keep in a pocket - it stays closed until you need to open it. So many uses on one little gadget, perfect pocket or purse size. I've opened bottles, cut things, and used the screwdrivers. Stays secure on my keychain until I need it.
Great gift for anyone.

I was given a Utili-Key as a gift several years ago. The first model was made in U.S.A. I thought I had lost it and ordered a replacement, as seen here. The new one is Chinese and is absolutely inferior. The "catch" that holds it closed failed and I lost the new one. I did get 6 good months of use out of it, though so it's still a good value.

I found the old one in a phone closet where I had left it for a repair (it's great for pressing down the tabs on Cat-5 cables to disconnect them). It's back on my keyring now. I have accidentally left it on my keychain at the airport once and it was not confiscated, but I'm not suggesting you do this.

This was my second purchase. The first one I had was given to me as a gift, and I thought I had lost it. I kept it on my keychain and had set it down at one of our business locations when I used it to cut some zip ties.

I ordered the new one and used it for about three or four months when the catch failed and it fell off my keychain several times until it was lost.

Fortunately I found my old one, which was made in USA. It is still perfect and I've had it for several years. There is absolutely no doubt that the Chinese replacement is inferior to the one that was made in USA. Why they stopped making it here is beyond me...

I ordered ten of these as gifts because they are just so handy, and everyone loves the clever design. Ever been sitting in the car after you bought something you want to use right away, but the price tag is on one of those annoyingly strong plastic strings? This little knife is the perfect solution. =) I use mine anytime I need to make a quick cut (like open a package) or tighten a small screw. The serrated edge is especially nice when you need a little sawing power.

Opening items like mail, boxes, shrink wrap, snack bags and bottles. Tightening up eyeglass screws and other loose connections. Take care not to let the TSA question it - pack it or lose it.

I ordered this b/c I'd placed an order totalling [$] It's a good idea, but the execution is poor. You've got to fight to open the thing, and if you aren't careful you could cut yourself in the process. It does appear to be made from nice fairly heavy gauge metal. But I tossed it in the trash the same day it arrived. [...] Go get yourself a small multi-tool or pocket-knife instead. Same idea, better result.

Although I have not had much use for it. Like any tool it is there when you need it. I have always needed to do something minor and have been without a basic tool. Now if I can remember that it is there I will use it.
