Men's Sizing Charts

Head:

Measure around head, just above eyebrows. Convert inches to hat size using sizing chart.

Sleeve:

Measure from center of back at neck to shoulder, over elbow and down to wrist.

Tradesman Sizing:

Our clothing is generously sized for extra roominess and easy moving fit. No need to size up.

Neck:

Measure around the middle of the neck (at the Adam's apple).

Waist:

Bend side to side to find natural waist. Measure around waist.

Chest:

Keeping tape parallel to the floor, measure fullest part of chest with arms relaxed down at sides.

Inseam:

Measure a pair of pants that fit you well. Measure from the crotch seam to bottom of pants. If you are measuring 100% cotton pants that have been washed, add 1⁄2".

Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Ultimate Fire Hose 9" Work Shorts:

I wanted well made shorts for hiking and a hunting trip to Africa and these fit the bill well. Tough material, decent sized pockets with snap closure, not hool amd loop which is loud and game spooking. I did remove the hook and loop patchescto securectoe pocket flaps inside the pocket, easy fix. Good neutral colors too.

Sliding in quality

I've purchased the 9" work shorts in the past and been pleased with them. I recently got another pair and have found myself bitterly disappointed. The belt loops are far too small and the pockets all appear to have much smaller capacity.

I hope Duluth can revisit these shortcomings and go back to the older style.

VERY WELL MADE....But back pockets...

These shorts are made like a tank, but unfortunatly I had to send them back. The back pockets are WAY to small at the opening. I couldn't reach in and pull out my wallet. It was like a monkey trap, grab your wallet and you can't pull your hand out. You have to push it up from the outside,,,it looks like your scratching your butt,,,then when you get one corner of your wallet to the top you can grab it and pull it out. Takes about 20 seconds to get your wallet. Put bigger pockets on them and I'll buy them again in a skinnit!!

Someone ruined the perfect shorts

Horrible pockets

I was the very first person to review these shorts on this site, and I referred to them then as "Armor for your butt". They still qualify for that label but, somewhere along the line something went horribly wrong with the front pockets. On the originals the front pockets were deep, with square corners and you could stand on your head without worrying about your change and keys falling out. Not anymore! The rear of the pocket (towards the outer leg seam) has been rounded and curved, and every single time I get in my truck I lose stuff out of the front pockets. Change, keys, nail clipper, nuts and bolts, it all ends up on my front seat, or down inside the cushions. And, as if that weren't bad enough, someone decided to add a tiny inner pocket at the bottom of the right front pocket. I don't know what the purpose of this was but it's a major annoyance to me. It's too small to get my fingers into, but big enough to trap whatever gets into it. Inevitably, at least for me, the thing it traps is whatever I most want to get out of my pocket in a hurry. There have been times I've had to loosen the waist and pull the pocket inside out to get a small key or part out of that pocket! I ended up cutting it off.

Other than the pocket problems, these are still great shorts, but I have to say, the horrible front pockets are a deal breaker for me. I will not buy these again.

Not as good as long pants

I bought these for work expecting the arrangement of pockets to be the same as the long version so was very disappointed, pockets on long pants are perfect for work but not on the shorts.

Wearing them year around here in the Northwest I use them as much as an advertisement (I'm usually the only one on Construction sites, in the snow, in shorts). Belt loops to small and poor stiching

Poor Quality

loose stitching looked like it was not sown properly.

Belt loops are small and will not take my 1.75" riggers belt.
