Not what I hoped for from Duluth

        By Josh R.

        from Utah

        Pros

        • Leather And Rubber
        • Tougher Than Tennis Shoes

        Cons

        • More expensive
        • Too Much Glue Holding It

        Best Uses

I bought these as a replacement to Duluth's everyday work boots. My old boots were good solid leather triple stitched at the seams. I bought these hoping they were sturdier than the picture suggests. The leather isn't as thick and there's so much glue! Everywhere you look, something is glued. It looks and feels cheaper than the older boots they used to sell. I sent them back and am going somewhere else for my next pair of boots. Their customer service says these are more reasonably priced than the competition. Maybe they are, but they just aren't as good as their old boots that kept going for two years of everyday abuse. Oh, and the insoles are about as effective as cardboard.

If these shoes last as long as the work boots I'm still wearing I'll be back
Hopefully Duluth will still be in business.
Now if I could just get a pair of free underware to try!

These boots were surprisingly comfortable right out of the box. All day long. I've had more expensive work boots that took a long time to break in and never felt that great. The laces are smooth and unless you double knot them will work themselves loose. I have seen some that had, for lack of a better description, "bumps" in them. These act to keep the lace from loosening yet allow the lace to be readily untied. Overall, these are great work shoes.

              They are not breathable

They are low-top like shoes, but with sturdy construction and rugged soles to function like work boots. I bought them to wear on construction sites on hot days when we wear shorts because they were purported to be breathable. They seem to be well-made, but they are not breathable. They are too hot. On days when the temperature is such that these would not be too hot, I will instead wear a boot over the ankle. I would still like to find a low-top "work boot" that actually does breathe.

I use this shoe for work our walking corn fields and around the farm. So far it has held up well and seems to be of good quality. I bought this at the store in Port Washington. The staff was outstanding and very helpful and cheery.

I bought the previous version of their work boot which has been discontinued. They were good boots except that they ran a bit too small. Finally gave them away about half way through their useful life. I've worn size 12 for decades and they needed to be a 12 1/2. No such thing as a 12 1/2 here.
When I ordered the Grindstones I hoped that they were true to size. They're not. I don't feel like walking around in clown shoes that are 1/2 size too big (13) so I'm sending them back.
