The gamble has paid off so far

I am an electricial contractor and am on my feet and climbing ladders all day long. These boots are very easy on the feet. I usually don't spend this amount of money on my boots. But, I have purchased other Duluth products and have been very pleased. So I took a gamble and it's paid off so far.

        Pretty Good Boots

The little pull thingy on the back of the boot is way too small. It needs to at least double in length in order for a normal man size finger to be able to use it to pull on the boot. I have had it wet a couple times, no leaks! My last three pair of boots have been Merrills. At this point I like my Grindstones better.

These are the most comfortable safety shoes/boots that I've ever worn. On top of that they look great.

                      Best Uses

Just bought these boots before start-up that lasted for 11 days at 14 hours per day. Crawled over steel skids, pipe, conduit, etc. Lots of walking in gravel and on concrete. Oil seemed to be everywhere on this job but I did not slip once. The shoes are lightweight so my feet didn't get tired because of them. I think these boots are about $60 less than imported Redwings. Durability is still a question but I can't see anything that gives me worry.

I'm retired but spend long days working in my shop. These boots offer great support and comfort while standing on concrete all day. The soles have just the right depth to the lugs - deep enough to use walking through the woods but not too deep that they track dirt all over.

                            • Anywhere

Almost a month ago I paused in the middle of yard work and sat down by the mailbox to pull these on so I could give my other 6" boots a decent burial in the trash can. That old pair had given me 12 years of pretty reliable service as a sculptor and welding student, and so I was prepared to be disappointed in the Grindstone boot. In fact, I probably wouldn't have bought them if I hadn't been given gift cards to do so, but I'm really glad I did.

I believe I've worn them every day since, for at least a few hours a day. While that may not match the constant wear required by guys who do heavy work for a living, I think I can at least say that if you work around your home and need something that will protect your feet and not leave them in pain after a three or four hour stretch, it appears to me that these should do nicely.

I've started what is for me a major landscaping project on my lot this year, which involves replacing a lot of the turf with a combination of stone paths and groundcovers. I'm excavating heavy clay soils with shovels and picks, and bringing in wheelbarrow loads of crushed limestone and limestone rocks that I'm digging up from a nearby lot. Besides climbing around on mounds of stone that regularly shift under my feet and twist my ankles, I'm putting a lot of stress on my feet in general, just in the process of breaking and moving dirt, and I have yet to have sore feet when I'm done.

Also, I didn't exactly know how to take Duluth's description of "mud-shedding" soles, which sounded a little like marketing talk to me, but today after walking around on wet ground and adding a half-inch to my stature with a layer of clay on my boots, I found it came off easily and quickly. So there you go.

Since we guys feel a little prissy wearing work stuff that's all shiny and brand new-looking, I'm proudly attaching a pic of my month-old boots with a little hard-earned dust on the toe caps.

My girlfriend bought me these boots for when my mucks weren't suitable for the jobsite. I absolutely love them. They are the best boots I have ever owned, and they are something most work boots aren't - COMFORTABLE. My toes and ankles are well-protected. I love Duluth's guarantees on their products. I will definitely tell the other guys at work about these boots. Great job, Duluth!

I have been wearing work boots for over thirty years..these are the most comfortable ever. The jury is still out on their durability( cause they are new). So give me a call in eight months.
