These are great for repair to pants and shorts. Have used before with great success! Also, used by my daughter to re-purpose a hoodie with a broken zipper with good results.

Had a pair of pants from Duluth with a button getting ready to fall off because of wear on the fabric holding the button on the pants. I cut off the button and installed this button. Difference in looks than the button and now is a metal button, but the belt covers it anyway. Works great and no worries about losing my button on my pants, which has happened before. Thanks duluth, love the clothes.

The buttons are used on my everyday jeans and pants. The nails and buttons will bend if not hit squarely on the head. Also sometimes you have to hit them twice to make a solid connection. But they do work great once installed. Make sure you use a hard surface to hammer the buttons on to. The nail does not go thru fabric as easily as thought. Best bet is to make sure you see the metal pin before placing button on to connect to what ever you purchased these for. I actually used a small drill bit to pierce the cloth, that was ok but need another method as some thick cloth the pin has difficulty pentrating for the button to hook on to it. Maybe some king of punch can be made to go around the pin that you can hit to help the pin puncture the cloth prior to button attachment. Also use a smooth head hammer otherwise you will make marks on the button head design. This is also the same comment for the gold one's.

They're Great BUT... Be certain of placement. On thinner materials you may want to add a "backer" or extra material to help keep the small tack head from pulling through if the button should get caught on something (carpenters/landscapers). The tack half of button is sharp enough to push into most cloth, I found a larger needle or a finish nail works good on leather & thicker stuff BUT DON'T EXCEED over half tack lenght.

Easy to install. I have sewn my fair share of suspender buttons onto jeans, pants and slacks. On jeans, even using the strongest thread available for jeans, the thread weakens, stretches and then I am at risk for losing a button so I have to re-sew and or reinforce re-do the button I sewed on once already. These stick out a little farther than the ones I sew on because of the nail that secures them.
