New to the wearing of suspenders, I started with basic suspenders that hooked to my belt. They were OK, but I wanted to try suspenders that didn't require a belt, and the idea of side clip suspenders seemed like they'd be less cumbersome and restrictive. I also like the ruberized clips, thinking they'd be less damaging to my jeans than clips with metal teeth.
Your side clip suspenders did not disappoint! They were well described and just as advertised, and I like 'em just fine. They're easier to get in and out of when the need arises, too. They took a few wearings before I found the best points along the sides to clip them, but I did find the locations where the suspension felt balanced front-to-back.
My only negative concern is that, with their side clip position, they accentuate, in both feel and appearance, my belly... and that ain't nobody's fault but mine.

Just started wearing suspenders and these are a lot better for me than the 4 clip suspenders. Much easier to position on pants. The wide [2"] straps are great for they do not dig in. Clips do not come undone and fly up and smack a body in the face which is great. Now that I have gotten use to them I do not feel completely dressed with out them

For any man who's even fairly active, keeping your pants up isn't as easy as it seems, especially when and if you have to do a lot of bending and stooping. These side clip suspenders do the job brilliantly well, are invisible under a jacket, stay put and do not damage the waistband of your trousers. They work equally well on light and heavy materials. Best of all, if you have to wear anything around your waist from cell phone, to multi-tool, to (well, dare I say, licensed concealed weapon), your belt stuff will no longer drag your pants down.

Ordered these suspenders for my husband who works maintenance on a coal beltline and was always complaining about his pants pulling downward and having to pull up on them all the time because he is stooping and bending all the time. He loves these and wants more and his brother says order him a pair also. They are very durable and helped with his problem.

I really wanted the under shirt suspenders but felt the straps were to thin and did not have the rubber clamps. These work just fine under my shirt

First, the clips on these suspenders do provide a "gentler grip on pants". In fact, they provide a MUCH, MUCH GENTLER GRIP AND.... A MUCH FIRMER GRIP than the original suspender clips provided by Duluth, but NOT for the reason implied by the name of the product. If there is any rubber in these clips it is concealed in a painted-on coating over the very hard steel or cast iron posts holding the gripping teeth.

But, misnomer aside, these clips are very, very good. They have a much firmer feeling grip to them than the original clips. The gentler aspect comes simply from the fact that the teeth are not sharp and the gripping load is distributed over a much larger surface area of the fabric. I would estimate at least six times as much fabric is being gripped, but with a smaller clip. Which also explains the firmer feel.

The teeth themselves, as you can see from the accurate pictures of same, are actually 10 chisel shaped, blunt edged, stagered protrusions (5 on each side of the clamp) that mesh together like a gear to lock onto the fabric. A time tested design!

I have used the clips both on my work pants and on the much more delicate nylon fabric of some light weight rain pants (which I would never have subjected to the original suspender clips). I can find no evidence of any damage to the fabric whatsoever. THE CLIPS WORK AS INTENDED, misnomer aside.

The only caveat I have relates to durability. The clamping mechanism itself (not the teeth in this instance) is the same as on previous clips and will eventually wear down (not clamp tightly). With daily use expect at least two years of optimum clamping power. (A patient and experienced handy man can probably extend that time indefinitely.)

Also the hardwear attaching these clips to the suspenders themselves doesn't appear to be as sturdy as on the original Duluth models. I doubt, however, that said hardwear will fail before the initial clamp failure cautioned above.
