Comments about Duluth Trading Fire Hose Gear Bag:

I use this bag for my RV camping trips. It is just the right size for carrying my CPAP and for carrying clothes and toiletries to and from the bath houses. When not in use it will collapse down for easy stowage. It is a rugged bag and should provide long service.

Comments about Duluth Trading Fire Hose Gear Bag:

I travel about 150 nights per year and this is my "go to" bag for my computer, periodicals and books. If my trip is one or two nights, then I leave my roller bag at home and pack everything in this bag. After about 60 days of use, I am generally satisfied. However, one of the D rings that hold the strap wants to rotate and I'm fearful that, eventually, the narrower support for the leather will cause the leather to rip. More annoying, though, is that the straps won't stay adjusted. After about 12 city blocks of walking (or walking from the "D" councourse at ATL to Ground Transportation) I have to stop, take the bag off my shoulder and readjust the straps. My guess is that the material is about 2 mm too thin. Not enough to make me take advantage of Duluth's excellent "return if not satisfied" policy, but annoying nonetheless. I have an idea about inserting a strip on denim to solve the problem.
I also added a sheepskin to the shoulder strap (like you would use for your vehicle's shoulder strap) to make carrying the bag more comfortable.
All in all a solid "B+" but, with a little re-engineering this bag could be solid "A."

Comments about Duluth Trading Fire Hose Gear Bag:

Very nice and useful bag - I am glad they came up with a black version with brown leather trim. It can really be stuffed, and it also makes a great carry-on, even on those small "puddle-jumper planes, since it can fit easily in the over head or under the seat. The only things that I would want to add would be some small feet on the bag and perhaps a fancier version that was entirely made of black cloth and leather - that would be a really nice and dressy addition to the line!

          Great Office Bag

Comments about Duluth Trading Fire Hose Gear Bag:

Great bag. I tend to carry quite a bit to the office, including a smaller laptop. The width limit of the interior side pocket I would say is 12 in., but you can get a 14 in wide laptop in the main pocket easily. This bag is only padded on the bottom, so you may want to use a sleeve in the main section anyway. Although the Firehose bags are less stiff than leather or even heavy cordura, the bottom foam padding keeps this one standing, and overall I think it is a good compromise betweeen "stiff" and "loose", just coming off a "stiff" Red Oxx CPA brief. Basically, this is a WIDE bag that is great if you are carrying a bunch of letter size documents or perhaps a camera insert in there. Organizer pockets are great; not too many, sizes are good. I hate bags which give you too many small ones of no use. The only shortcoming of all these bags is the Firehose strap, or more specifically the shoulder pad. Not up to the weight capacity of the bag, you will be replacing it. I like the Red Oxx claw straps. Also a great bag for a short trip, as a laptop and a couple days clothing can fit all in there.

This was my first product purchased on this site, I thought it would hold more of it's shape, be a stiffer or thicker canvas material.

Comments about Duluth Trading Fire Hose Gear Bag:

I needed a small bag to hold a go-bag for radio amateur emergency service. I used a belly bag for a time but it got quite crowded. This bag has about twice the space, a number of pockets and a nice over shoulder strap.

It seems to be well put together too.

I this is a great bag and I enjoy using this as my gym bag. It's expensive but worth the cash...especially when bought on sale. My only complaint is that the stitching in the front pouch is a bit sloppy. Other than that, I believe it will hold up for a long time.
