Bon Jour

Pros

    Cons

      Best Uses

      • Opening
      • Slicing

I use it for food slicing and basic cuts. It is a lightweight and simple knife. The blade is extremely sharp out of the box but after two weeks of general use required a little touch up. I like the design and feel of the wood handle. The locking mechanism is easy and I appreciate the fact it locks in a closed position.

      Cons

        Best Uses

        • Cutting fruit
        • Opening packages

I use my Opinel for just about any situation, like opening packages, cutting fruit, and any other uses I might find for it. It's compact and not bulgy at all, I can carry it to replace my leatherman when I'm dressed casually or gagging around in shorts. I don't see nothing wrong with this great product.

        A good cheap knife

Just a good, cheap knife. Nothing fancy but it is lightweight, the blade locks in place (open or closed) and it sharpens nicely.

This is a classic knife from a well-known company. This model has been around for years. It is a high quality blade that can be used for many purposes. However, it is not as tough as some modern knives since it has a wooden handle, not metal.

Overall, this is a great piece! Everybody should have one in their collection!

I have carried these French mountaineering knives for over thirty years and have never been let down. Although I mention the thinness of the blade, I have never found a situation that it didn't handle. This is one of the more functional tool designs in terms of pure elegance of simplicity. The New York Museum Of Modern Art holds one as a testament to clean design!

Love this knife. I've got the #7 size and almost always have it on my person. It's such an elegant design that I have yet to find a situation where I say, "darn, I wish I had a different knife right now." Dare I say it's the perfect pocketknife? Yeah, I'll go there. I have yet to find anything better.
