Inset with a traditional horsehair braid
Back in the 1830s, intricately braided or “hitched” horsehair adorned everything from boots to bolos, and especially belts. Leathersmiths competed to weave ever more intricate patterns using the long, strong strands collected harmlessly from horses’ manes and tails. Now, 180 years later, we’ve revived this almost-forgotten art in a belt that’d do any bronc rider proud. It’s 100% rugged cowhide inset with a traditional side-by-side horsehair braid like the ones once seen on the dusty streets of Dodge City. Built to ride out the roughest jobs.
