I was a little skeptical at first to spend $80.00 on something that didn't have actual pictures posted at the time*. I was hesitant to buy from Duluth, because of the "harbor freight" feel that the website had. I was wrong!!! The item came double boxed, in a light canvas drawstring bag. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened my package. I have gotten a couple of compliments so far. Thank you.
*Since my purchase, they have updated the pictures on the website to reflect the actual product you will be receiving.

As a volunteer with the BSA, I find myself needing something to write on and hold papers while in the outdoors more often than most. Whether it be a Scouter meeting at a campsite or a training course on some aspect of Scoutcraft, a folio comes in handy. Usually, they are lightweight, leather or vinyl, and easily torn to shreds. Not so with this one. I feel comfortable tossing this on the ground to grab a rope as we lash together poles for some project, just as I do carrying into an executive board meeting for the Council.

Use every day for meeting notes, field observation notes. The more I use the better it gets. The leather and Firehose gets softer with more use/age. Looks great and goes with my Dozer Jr. Backback. Same matching material. Very glad I purchased/

This thing has been nice. I like it more than any other organizational product I have used. It is nice but also will stand up to the dirt and rougher treatment. After trying this out, I am going to look into more of the Duluth products.

O.K. But Disappointing on Some Points

                    • Overpriced
                    • Small pockets

                    Best Uses

I have been looking for a portfolio that has a zipper but does not have a "three ring binder" for a number of years. I was very happy to FINALLY find one in a Duluth Trading catalog. I ordered it and it arrived within a week. While happy to have a zippered portfolio without the three ring binder I'll admit I'm a little disappointed with the portfolio for a number of reasons.

                      (1) You can tell the front/back covers are simply cardboard that is covered with canvas/leather. The front cover of mine was slightly bent upon arrival. I was able to flatten it out by setting a heavy object on it for a weekend but I was still a bit disappointed the supporting material is so obviously flimsy. For this price I would have expected a much thicker, sturdier cardboard for the covers.

                      (2) The business card holders are too small (width). I have found only one associate's card which will fit in the business card slots as most cards are wider than the provided slots. If you use these slots for business cards you'll likely have to insert them vertically as opposed to the expected horizontal position.

                      (3) The larger document holder flap on the left side is sewn to the portfolio at the bottom. Consequently it is very tight and won't expand to allow you to slip documents into the holder. You can get documents in under the flap but you'll likely wrinkle or crunch them as you try to force them in under the flap.

                      (4) Given the above issues and the overall functionality and workmanship of the portfolio I do think it is overpriced. I could see paying $40 or $50 tops but at $70+ it is definitely overpriced.

Again, I generally like it and will use it but the "cons" listed above do tend to make what could be a "great" product merely an "average" product.
