        Hands got soaked

            Best Uses

I had a Pair of these gloves but had to get rid of them. They were hot and not breathable. My hands were sweaty and the inside of the gloves trapped the moisture and my hands got soaking wet. Then my hands got cold. I would not recommend these gloves. Dultuth trading used to make a pair of winterized non waterproof gloves, the same style. I replaced these gloves witha pair of those gloves and I really liked them. Unfortunately i lost one of the non waterproof gloves and really wearing that pair. Dultuh please bring back the winterized non-waterproof gloves.

              Good Glove Needs Slight Improvement

I am a longshoreman and I am outdoors 365 days a year. These gloves work well during the Winter months but there is a slight improvement that would make them better. When you take the gloves off the interior finger insulation follows your hand out of the gloves making it difficult and time consuming to put them back on. The finger insulation should be attached at the top of each finger to make the gloves easier to get back on.

I service locomotives out in the rain, cold, and heat. It was a cold December rainy morning, I had a rain coat on my body and my new Duluth winter work gloves on ready for work. I'm working in the cold rain trying to install a new HVAC unit when I start getting hot and sweaty. I have to take off my right hand glove to get this uncooperative bolt back in when the entire lining comes out. I'm having to stick the handle end of my screwdriver to get it back in but it just wont go in right. I later finished the job but with my old trusty winter work gloves.

              Best Uses

              • General Ranch Farm Work
              • Hiking camping

Used every day on my Ranch this fall/ winter. I normally wear thru three pairs of leather work gloves a season wrangling cattle, throwing hay bales, pounding "T" posts, mending barbed wire fences, cutting, splitting (manually with a maul) and stacking four cords of white oak, etc... the middle, index, and thumb tips are the first to wear thru followed by the seams along the index finger and thumb. These gloves are still holding up thru all the chores this past season. The grippy roll tips are worn smooth and the stitching holding it to the glove are the only signs of wear to show for all that work. The glove is sufficiently warm enought to wear while working and at times gets too hot as the day warms up. A little stiff when new but loosens up enought to not get in the way. Just as with any insulated glove you give up a little dexterity but you learn to adjust, especially w/ the longer finger tips (I have shorter fingers). A few suggestions, add a finger loop on the inside of the wrist to aid in donning the gloves, keeps stuff like mud or cow pie residue off of the inside of your cuffs, use kevlar or some other abrasion resistant thread on the finger tips, and sew an elastic panel to cover the 1/2" gap at the base of the wrist strap/ cuff so the wind doesn't blow thru and chill that small spot or allow any hay, dirt or saw dust into the glove. Otherwise it's a great glove and I highly recommend it. Will put this pair away for next fall and order the uninsulated version for this spring/ summer.

For many winters for a variety of tasks ranging from building construction to airplane maintenance I have used insulated deerskin and cowhide gloves because they are comfortable and warm; they are, however, easily damaged and tend to wear out quickly. They are usually also not especially water-resistant, meaning that I would typically have a few extra pair readily available and ready to use while wet pairs were drying.

The Duluth winter glove has therefore become a significant new addition to keeping my hands warm while working outdoors in the Maine winter.

They are comfortable and relatively water-resistant. While wearing them I can clear the snow off of a piece of lumber, for example, and proceed w/ measuring, cutting, transporting the piece, setting it in place, and fastening it -- over and over again for quite a while before the gloves begin to feel damp. Then they dry quickly while I'm wearing the spare pair I've brought along..

Similarly I can dust quite a bunch snow off of quite a lot of equipment w/ out the gloves become unduly damp.

One feature I'm not a fan off is the Velcro closure/tab, as it seems to often have a mind of its own: I'll take a glove off momentarily to gain dexterity, planning to put it right back on, but I can't, because the Velcro tab has partially reattached itself, meaning I've got to remove the half-donned glove so that I can detach the Velcro tab and fit my hand into the glove. Perhaps just a full, stretch collar would be preferable, and do away w/ the Velcro tab idea altogether.

All considered, I like these gloves well enough. After a half-dozen occasions of use and a few dryings, they are beginning to form nicely to the shape of my hands.
