Razor Renew Leather Strop

When I bough my straight razor, I bought this strop to keep the edge sharp. I use the strop everyday that I use the razor and it works very well. It keeps my disposable razor, my wife's "leg" razor, and straight razor sharp a lot longer.

One thing that was a little disappointing; was the width of the strop. It's about two inches wide, which is great for disposable razors. But not so well for straight razors; it does work for straight razors, it just takes a little more time to work it.

My father was a barber, so as a child I sometimes spent time in his barbershop and watched him occasionally shave customers, using the straight razor and sharpening it with a strop.Since I am as a firefighter required to shave in order to legally wear Breathing Apparatas, I wanted to find a means to shave taking me back to my "roots" so to speak.These implements weren't exactly easy to locate.Duluth had them and I'm glad to have made my purchase.

Keeps an edge on my disposable blade as good as new. Bought it for my straight razor, but this one is way too small for that use.

This thing surprised me. I bought a straight razor and this to sharpen it for the end of the world when razors might be hard to come by. There should always be time for proper hygiene, I always say. Anyway, I was reading the instructions and they did not mention how to sharpen a straight razor, but mentioned instead how to re sharpen your scissors and disposable razor heads. Now, who doesn't feel sticker shock every time they buy the razor heads? $40 for eight stinkin heads? You'd expect them to be made with gold, but alas! They are not.
So I used the strop on my razors and Viola! Nice and sharp. This was on a head I was about to throw away so it is obviously a money saver. Plus I now capable of sharpening my scissors up to running speed. Who doesn't hate running with dull scissors?
Oh yeah, I haven't used my straight razor yet, but I know when I do, it will be sharp.

genuine quality leather for sharpening straight razors

I purchased for use with a straight razor and found it a bit small for that purpose. I still use it to supplement a normal size strop. Materials and construction are top quality.
