I'm a big fan of Duluth's products and have talked quite a few of my friends into trying their gear over the last few years.
That's because my friend's know that I only buy top quality products, put them through an abusive outdoor lifestyle, and will only recommend products that work, and are worth the money.
So it pleases me immensely to find a company that still produces high quality gear, with a warrantee you can be proud of.
Every piece of clothing I've bought from Duluth Trading Company has brought a smile to my face, and that's getting harder and harder to do in these days of disposable commodities.
This fleece is one of those pieces of gear that I'm proud of owning, and you can tell its high quality as soon as you pick it up.
Although I'm not abusive to my gear, I am extremely hard on it, and I've learned to zero in on any weak points in my gear.
Between 40 years of camping in some of the worlds most extreme climates and 25 of them being a professional dog trainer, I've learned what works and what doesn't.
I've also learned not to waste money on things that don't work.
Buying a $3000 bite suit forces you to look at stuff you otherwise wouldn't care about, like the materials used, the quality of the stitching, the consistency of quality etc.
All of those mundane specs suddenly seem very important when a 135 lbs American Bulldog is hanging off a part of your body. Suddenly you realize that indeed you DO care what kinda materials are used, how well the equipment is constructed, and what kind of longevity & serviceability you can realistically expect.
So that's the background that forced me to develop an eye for quality gear.
I just bought one for my son, and the female version of this jacket for my mom, & daughter in law also.
No more needs to be said other than this is a good, thick, quality garment, made with high quality materials, and a high standard of craftsmanship.
It should last you a long time, with rough outdoor use.
I give the Longshoreman Fleece Two Thumbs Up!
Duluth Trading caters to men that work and may have big arms. They may wear layers. This jacket has woefully narrow arms. This jacket does not fit with DT's philosophy of fit. The sleeves are just not roomy enough. Having this sort of product in your store will destroy your business, period. You must sell clothes that are roomy. The men that buy from you are not going to have skinny little arms. My arms are not big, and I had to buy an XL. I was wearing a T shirt when I bought it and missed the fact that the arms were so narrow.
I purchased a Shoreman's Fleece Jacket back in 2008 that I was still using. Unfortunately, I didn't like the fact that there was no hood and no way to cinch up the bottom to keep out the wind. Also, the pencil pocket on one sleeve and the cell-phone pocket on the other sleeve (too small for cell phones of today) were of no use to me. This version of the Jacket is just what I was looking for and is serving me well already.
PS The other jacket has been re-purposed to my step-son who will also use it till it finally dies.
