I thought the material would be heavier but the hat is perfect for summer months in my climate.

I'd bought a large, but decided to grow out my hair so I bought another sized X-Large, yet I continue to wear both. Keeps hair and sweat out of eyes and looks old fashioned but have recieved complements on the style.

The hat seems almost too light. With the cotton newsboy cap, I was able to swing it on with one hand. With this, it's too light to put on with one hand! Also compared to the cotton newsboy cap, it doesn't have the same sweatband.
At first it feels like it has a flimsy weave but it's pretty strong. The hat isn't supposed to keep your head warm, it's supposed to keep your noggin from getting fried while proving ventilation.
Overall, it's a great hat for any season but winter. Unless your winter is above 50 degrees. Just wish they offered more colors.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I've been looking for a lightweight, breathable hat for summertime in New Orleans and this one was the first I could find without going north to look for one. I got the pale navy and it looks great.
