Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Fire Hose Iron Range Winter Coat:

This was the first item I had ever purchased from Duluth, and immediately converted me to a repeat customer/outspoken Duluth advocate. My wife and I have a small farm and are currently starting up a maple syrup operation. When winter rolled around and we still had a long way to go building our sugarhouse and installing tubing throughout our woods, I decided my old winter work clothes weren't going to cut it anymore. I debated between the Iron Range Winter Coat and the Superior Insulated Work Jacket, the lower temp rating of the Superior was really tempting, and since none of my other "name brand" work coats have ever kept me warm without numerous layers, I was skeptical that the Iron Range's rating of 10-25 would really be enough. But, I love pockets, and the Iron Range Winter Coat is loaded with them, so that's what I went for, and I am glad I did. I've been working outside anywhere from an hour to 12+ hours at least 5 days a week in this coat for the last couple months, and even when working last week in wind chills of -10 and lower, my coat still kept my core warm with nothing more than a flannel shirt on underneath.

All my previous cold-weather work gear has always been so bulky and restrictive that I only wore it when I absolutely had to. After wearing the Iron Range Coat for a couple days around the farm and at my office job, I tossed all of my other coats into a dark corner somewhere and haven't worn anything else since. This coat takes a beating yet is still more comfortable and warm than anything I have ever owned.

There is only one issue that I have encountered with this coat, and it is actually going to cause me to return it here in the next few days. In the last week, I have had 2 of the snaps on the pockets start falling apart, and now there's a third one developing the same issue. The outer part of the snap that is riveted onto the flap of the pocket is basically ripping through the brass. When the first one started I thought I must have snagged a pocket on something while working, but then over the next few days, I noticed the other two starting to get loose and I knew I hadn't done anything more than opening and closing the pockets in that time period. I contacted customer service and true to the 100% no bull guarantee, they said to send it back and they'd give me a full refund and that they would normally offer to send me a replacement but they are out of stock until next fall. So, I'm reluctantly giving it up and will be ordering a new one as soon as they are in stock again, and hopefully my issue with the snaps was just a fluke.

One note on the fit. I ordered a Large Tall because I am 6'4 and 180lbs. I normally have a hard time finding sleeves long enough, but these were right on the line of being too long for me. I almost sent it back to get a regular length, but after wearing it a couple days decided I didn't mind it. So if you're right on the line, you may want to consider just sticking with a regular length. My brother is 6'1 and ~220lbs and after trying my coat on, decided a regular would be a better fit for him.

Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Fire Hose Iron Range Winter Coat:

this is a very nice coat but the green color is hideous. It is the color of arn employee of the forest service or park ranger or border patrol. it is a very strange green color. sending back for refund. if it was a different color i would keep it. i thought about just donating it a veteran or something but money is money.

Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Fire Hose Iron Range Winter Coat:

The large tall size has sleeves which are plenty long for my 6'5" frame. The fit is a little loose which allows for movement and layering which is good. This coat keeps me warm on 45 minute walks with my dog in 20 degree wind chill. I like having so many pockets for caps, gloves, treats, phone, etc. This is a heavy coat. You will never confuse it with a down-filled nylon parka. I like the heavy rugged feel.

Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Fire Hose Iron Range Winter Coat:

This is an excellent cold weather jacket. The fleece lined pockets keep you warm, it looks good, it has lots of space for carrying things, and it has good dimensions to it. Works as both an overcoat and as a stand alone jacket. It's the right kind of heavy, a sturdy, no nonsense garment.

The coat is fantastic, very warm and wind proof. The double zipper however is junk. It usually takes 5 or 6 times of putting it together before it will zip up!
Just a regular heavy duty zipper would be sooo much better. These ones designed so that you can un zip upward usually do not work!

I use this coat as an everyday work coat and it's great for keeping the wind off of me and keeping me warm since I don't care for the cold at all. Being a man, I like pockets and this garment has plenty of pockets for my hands and whatever else I might need to carry. I especially like the ones in the back on either side.

I bought this for my husband as an early christmas gift, who was staying at my sons house in Alaska for Christmas. When the package came my son thought it was a gift for him and was all excited, until he realized that it was for his father. My husband, made it a point to brag about how wonderful his coat was. All ended well when my son opened his very own gift from Duluth Trading company. My husband says it was wonderful light weight yet warm for his daily walks along the frozen shoreline.

I own a ranch in South Texas where I manage white tail deer for hunting. When I ride the property, I rely on this coat to keep me warm and protected from brush. Although it is nearly too heavy for wearing while working fences, etc. I appreciate it being rugged and warm for the open air during cold snaps. The only added comment I can make is that it would nice to offer in "Tall".
