Though Operation Market Garden went down as Field Marshal Montgomery's greatest misstep, one victory did emerge. The unquestioned proof of the Army's latest uniform addition - the field coat.

Been looking for a good field coat for a long time. This coat is comfy, warm and looks great. The pictures on the website do not do it any justice. I wish I would have found this years ago.
      Thanks Duluth!!!

My only gripe is that it is not made in USA...but then what is anymore. It is very well made.

I'm a geologist, and have been working on a drilling project in the mountains at 10,500 feet. I needed a warm, lined, water-shedding, wind-blocking, keester-covering parka with lots of pockets/storage, that I can layer with and a with hood to keep the wind and weather out. This fit the bill perfectly.

Coat of warm nails and barbed wire

              By Chad

              Verified Buyer

              Pros

              • Blocks wind well
              • Fits true to size
              • Freedom of movement
              • Plenty of pockets
              • Range of Motion
              • Tough and durable
              • Warm

              Cons

              • Bottom Zipper Unzips Easy
              • Hand Pockets Not Angled

              Best Uses

              • Cold weather gear
              • Everyday wear
              • Outdoor activities
              • Working outside

              This is a great coat.
It's warm and durable and seems like it's constructed well enough
to stand up to years of wear and hard use.
I wore it over the winter to shovel snow from the driveway when it
              was 6* outside with a windchill of -1*. I only had on a t-shirt and a thermal
henley underneath and I stayed nice and warm. Not overly sweaty hot but
comfortably warm. Even when stopping for awhile for breaks now and then.
I'm 6'2" and 185-190 lbs and the Large Regular fits me perfect. Not baggy but
not too tight even when layering underneath.
It's warm, tough, fits well, freedom of movement and range of motion are good,
blocks the wind well, and has plenty of pockets.
My only complaints are that the bottom zipper will easily start to unzip from the
bottom up while you're bending, stooping, or raising your legs high, when the
              storm flap is unbuttoned.
Also, the angle of entry for the hand warmer pockets is pretty much straight in from
the sides. As opposed to most jackets where the hand pockets are angled slightly
upwards which makes it far easier and more comfortable to find them with your
cold hands and use them to warm your hands as well.
Other than those two annoyances, this coat is all around excellent.
I wouldn't let those two things deter me from buying this coat if I had to do it over
again either. I'd buy one again anyways.
That's all I've got on this one for now.

              • Can't Detach Hood

              Best Uses

              • Everyday work coat

This coat repalces a nylon coat with plastic zippers as my daily work coat. The problem with plastic zippers is that they always break before the jacket gives up the ghost. Methinks this is a sinister plot to compel you to buy another one. Well, the steel zippers on this baby will still be functioning a decade from now and I'm sure the fire hose material will be a little faded but still ready for action!!!! Oddly enough, as crazy as this may sound, because the sleeves(nylon lined) aren't insulated my arms stay a wee bit chilly and this causes my arms to scavenge heat from my torso keeping my torso from overheating, sweating.......weird, but it works......never too hot or too cold.....good science!!!! Oh yeah, lotsa pockets.....I luv pockets!!!! Fits like it was tailor made just for me.....nice!!!! Highly Recommended!!!!!

This is the best coat I have ever owned. I am not young. I have been through the coats and jackets. This one tops them all. If that doesn't convince you, I was in the USAF for 6 years and they gave us some bad A55 gear. This coat is better than all of my issued Gortex and Carhartt.

It's tough buying clothes online. I found the size to be true. Pull the trigger. The OD Green is what I went with. PERFECT!!!

Up here in northern michigan we've been getting the worst of the winter snow and temperature. Some days dropping to -30 below; over 350 inches in snow cover. I am a ski instructor and coach for racing so I am always out in the cold. I usually just layer up and tough through it. This is a good alternative. Throw this on with a sweater, some under armor and a fleece you'll be good to go for anything that hits you. I bought this coat specifically to use for winter camping and even got to test it out before it actually got warm right now. I was out sleep ing my hammock with this my zero degree bag and a heat bag plus long johns and underarmor and I was toasty warm all through the night. However I woke up I the morning with my boots frozen solid and my flashlight broken. I actually ended up getting lost and had to navigate with the North Star. But during the whole time I never got cold. Not once! This coat is the real deal and I'd recommend it to anyone whole works in cold weather.

A hood and lining are the most logical evolution of your cool weather hoodless version.

Make a fleece lined hooded for colder weather and a hooded unlined water repellant version for the ultimate breathable DURABLE warm weather work rain coat.

Always make them from firehose canvas or the toughest fabric you field.

Keep this the gear to choose when you aren't sure when you'll be back, or what you'll run into along the way.
