    COMMENTS:

It's been 3 years... My intended use was backcountry bushwacking in Western mountains. I was hoping to find an alternative for the over priced and hyp'd hiking/trekking/climbing pants. Unfortunately, these weren't it.

The 3 inch belt tube in the middle of the back is a pain to threat your own belt thru. It gets worse with use as the fabric in the tube frays and grabs your belt. I found putting the belt on the pants before putting the pants on the way to handle this annoyance. The belt tube also prevents me from using my preferred suspenders (Perry Original Y-back Suspenders) which work well with a backpack, and instead I sometimes used (Perry uBEE Side Clip Suspenders) if I'm not backpacking.

I don't like the Velcro on the back and cargo pockets. The Velcro catches and closes as you are trying to remove or put back multiple items, one handed. Snaps would work better. The Velcro works well for the hidden tube pockets inside the cargo pockets.

Haven't found the cargo pocket side zips (for access while seated and driving) useful. The zipper is difficult to manage one handed while driving, or sitting for that matter. For me it's just a gimmick.

The fabric nicks and holes fairly easily (but hasn't torn) when butt scooting down steep trails, slopes or over rocks.

Unlike performance hiking pants, in the snow these look wet but I don't feel chilly when wearing wicking base layers. Others have asked if I'm getting cold and I have to assure them that I'm OK.

The front zipper pocket fabric has proven durable enough to safeguard my keys on day hikes when I've forgotten to put them in my pack.

These just aren't the cost effective alternative I'd hoped for to Mk1 Mod0 ripstop BDU's. I used BDU's for several years of daily, non winter field work in the rainy Pacific Northwest, BDU's (with appropriate base layers and rain gear) can't be beat for function and cost, go figure.

Came back to website to see what's new... currently trying out 511 Apex pants.

        2nd pair I have bought.
I work at conservation district outside during the summer.
They do keep you dryer with wicking the moisture away.

          COMMENTS:

          Love the extra pockets.
With the stretch waist band is a little large
Belt that comes with the pants are not very useful
Love the extra pockets behind the thigh pockets -- great for cell phones etc
Because they ride so low on the hips, the inseam appears to be longer than advertised. I usually wear a 30 inseam, in these pants I need a 28. I have noticed when I am ordering that 28 inseams sell out fast
