Works great layered beneath a twill work coat because the material is light and moves freely enough. The high neck effectively retains heat that usually escapes through the average hoodie. The zipper does not tug at my beard :bonus points: and the peripheral adjusting hood capabilities help keep my head on a swivel in fast and potentially furious environments.
It is snug in the upper arms and pits even after exchanging for the next size up ~ 2XL; limited layering capacity beneath the Hooded Scrapper for men with 17 inch or better biceps
Great new coat. Warm, light, and goes on over anything. Elastic cuffs allows you to wear short sleeves under, without arms freezing.
This jacket is a great wind breaker but it would take quite a few "layers" added to keep you warm at 5 to 20 degrees. It is hard to tell by the description in the catalog, but when it arrived in the mail it was obviously not what we thought we were buying and we had to send it back. It is well made but is only a windbreaker.
Since it's only November, it may be too early to tell, but January in Minnesota will be the test, and I'll hold back one star until after January. But so far, so good and would recommend to my friends.
I bought the grey scrapper jacket with a hood for my husband for Christmas, but ended up giving it to him early. Since the day he got it, he's worn it every day. He even wears it fishing on cold mornings with just a t-shirt underneath and stays warm.
