Comments about MN Cast Iron Twill Field Coat:

I'm a tall lanky guy (6'1", 180). Usually I wear a 42 suit jacket and 36-37" sleeves. this jacket is long enough in the arms (I ordered a Large Tall) but HUGE in the torso. It came down below my crotch and was way too baggy. Felt like a little kid trying on my dad's coat. If I were 40-50lbs heavier maybe it would fit but strike one from Duluth for not making a "tall" simply "tall" Why is it so hard to make coats that have long arms but normal torso? Lame. too bad it costs $7 to try it on.

Comments about MN Cast Iron Twill Field Coat:

There is a lot to love about this coat: the style; warm for the minimal bulk; nice fit; and pockets, pockets, pockets, including the hand-warmer pockets behind the snap-closing cargo pockets on the front. I'm a medium and fairly slim with arms on the long side, about 35 inches. One thing I like about Duluth products is the long arms. The 36-inch arms on this medium coat are a little long for me, but this is the way I like it when I want to keep warm.

As for the bad in this coat: It's good that the hardware is rugged metal, not plastic (or worse, aluminum), but why can't the stuff be made to work smoothly? The snaps won't easily close by pressing from the outside--you usually need to fold and get your fingers behind to get a positive squeeze to get them actually snapped closed. The thing that almost got the coat sent back was the darn zipper. Yes, I like the zip-open-from-the-bottom feature, but it sure slides rough. And designer guys, you missed something. If you bought this coat, get a bright light and your cheaters and study the inside of the zipper sliders. You will see the one-way locking tooth that is controlled by the pull tab. Play with it a little and you will understand why your pants stay zipped up, and why the end pin on the left side of this coat zipper will not enter both sliders unless you pull the tab on the bottom (backward-operating) slider. You will also understand the solution: Take a flat needle file and smooth down the front (outside of coat) of the tip of the zipper end pin to form a ramp for the locking tooth to climb. The stupid thing is that it doesn't take much--you only have to file it to taper to 2/3 or, at most, 1/2 the original thickness at the end of the pin. No more cussing when the wind starts to blow. Now, here's hoping the snaps and zipper will ease up with use.

Comments about MN Cast Iron Twill Field Coat:

The best service for this busy time of year. This is a great all around coat.I garden, fish, roadtrip, and this coat dose it all.The zipper needs a little break in,but once the coating is worn in its fine, and unzips from the bottom for driving.I am 6/2 250# and the 2XL is a great fit with plenty of room for easy movement with a heavy shirt under it.And I love the way it covers way down around the bottom.I just wish I had found DTC. years ago,but they will be my go to for all my clothes from now on.And as far as price, they are worth it.There stuff last and last. Thanks Duluth for great stuff.

Absolutely nice, well-made jacket! I was impressed as soon as I took it out of the package; this jacket just looks and feels durable - much better than Carhartt. Pockets are in all the place you could want a pocket.
Everything feels true to size except the sleeves are slightly long. No worries there, as I keep them rolled up until it gets cold, then roll them down over my gloves. Handwarmer pockets = win!

Comments about MN Cast Iron Twill Field Coat:

I was a little apprehensive about this coat after reading some of the reviews, but as it was half price, I thought I'd give it a try. True to DTC products, this coat is well made and stylish. My problems are two-fold. First, I'm a big guy. I typically wear a 3XL coat, and since most users rated the sizing true-to-size, that's what I ordered. It fits well in the chest and my ample belly. However the sleeves are at least 5" too long for my arms. I suppose I can roll them up, or use the cuff sizing snaps to keep the sleeves off my hands. I can't go down a size because 2XL would be too snug. The other problem area is the main zipper. It's nice and all to have it zip from both top and bottom, but you gotta open it all the way to get into the coat. That's that hard part.I thought I was going to tear the fabric just to get the zipper open so I could try it on. I'll try a little beeswax to see if that will help, but as an engineer, I have to frown at the zipper design/fabrication.

              Service and delivery comments:

Comments about MN Cast Iron Twill Field Coat:

Originally I had ordered a 2XL tall, as with prior orders in both shirts and jackets, but the sizing definitely ran small in the chest and overly tall (down to my knees almost). That being said returning it for a 3XL regular was easy enough, and now I can say that it's truly one heck of a good coat (and WARM for not being overly thick).

The zipper takes a little getting used to since you have to first engage it pulling on the coat fabric rather than the zipper, you'll just get it jammed if you try otherwise. Past that the only other thing that would have been an improvement is if there were a button and strap on the collar to keep the collar upright (as with the firehose field coat), still an amazing coat though.

Comments about MN Cast Iron Twill Field Coat:

I really like Duluth, but I am really disappointed in the zipper on this jacket. I always fight with zippers and this one ranks right at the top of my hate list. Too bad, the rest of the jacket is very nice. I almost sent it back because of zipper, but it seems I am like others and born to suffer with horrible zippers. Come on Duluth, you can do better than this.

Comments about MN Cast Iron Twill Field Coat:

I bought this as a Christmas gift for myself. I needed a rugged coat for working around the house in the winter, snow shoveling etc. The only glitch is the way the dual zipper pulls "stick," which makes it hard to get the coat zipped up. Hopefully this will wear in but there is a trick to it.

I usually buy x-large because I have long arms. I went with the large because I figured it was a roomy coat. The sleeve length is just right and the coat is perfect for layering with a down vest or heavy sweater if necessary.
