My girlfriend's favorite color is orange, so I got her this knife. She was surprised when she got it, and always keeps it nearby. This is her first Bowie knife.

Good gardening tool

By Grant the Gardener

from Boerne, TX

Pros

  • Bright
  • Hard to lose
  • Nice shape

Cons

  • Non-uniform Handle
  • Not Quality Steel

Best Uses

  • Bug-out Bag
  • Gardening Tool
  • Small Machete

First thing I did when I received this "bowie knife", which is really just a small machete with the bowie knife shape, was take it down to the local farmers market where a gentleman has an industrial blade sharpener. I take all my knives and gardening tools there to get sharpened on a fairly regular basis so I know he knows what hes doing. When I went to pick up this specific blade, he handed it back sharpened and polished and said "Hope you didnt pay too much for this one." He mentioned that the quality of the steel was not very good and he wasnt able to get it very sharp at all. It's sharp enough to do some light gardening work, but I will probably use it as my large blade in my SHTF bag.

I would only recommend this blade to a friend if they are needing something cheap and not worry about beating it up, but as for quality, it is mediocre at best.

Marbles Bowie knife

By Angry White Guy

from Milwaukee, WI

Verified Buyer

Pros

  • Great price
  • Nice Carbon Steel

Cons

    Best Uses

This is a great price for a Marbles Bowie. Good carbon steel. And, it is inexpensive enough that you are not afraid to actually use. I bought 3 - one for each bug out bag.

      from montana

      Verified Buyer

      Pros

      • Good price
      • Well balanced

      Cons

      • Not Sharp
      • Sheath Is Sold Seperatly

      Best Uses

Not sharp when I got it but that was easy to fix. Good as a utility chopper and impressing the in-laws. At this price it's hard to pass up. Fits in my hand very well and seems to be sturdy.

        Bowie Knife

        By donut

        from Tucson, AZ.

        Verified Buyer

        Pros

        • Easy to Hold
        • Lightweight
        • Really sharp
        • Useful length

        Cons

          Best Uses

          • Cut Agave Branches
          • Trim Off Cactus Cuttings

i needed sharp tool for trimming dead Agave branches. this knife is long enough to reach under Agave and sharp/strong enough to cut thru these thick branches. The tool also needed to be long so that i would not catch my arm on Agave needles. this knife is working for me. Additionally, it is light in weight so i can move it around as needed.

          Good Tool Which Needs

          By le Prof

          from Seattle, WA

          Verified Buyer

          Pros

          • A Mini-machete
          • Easy to Sharpen
          • Good Gardening Tool
          • Good Quality
          • Hefty Enough To Be Useful

          Cons

          • Needs A Sheath

          Best Uses

          • Small Light Machete

I use this so-called Bowie Knife as a light-weight machete in my garden, cutting out weeds, etc. in areas where using a full-size machete would be impossible. The knife has a good edge and is easy to resharpen as needed. However, the little cardboard "sheath" which came with the knife is worthless except as a shipping device; this knife needs its own, durable sheath to protect both the blade's edge and the user's fingers and the sheath should be included in the purchase, not as an option (which I did not even find out about until well after ordering the knife).

          Pros

          • Hard to lose big

          Cons

          • could be sharper

          Best Uses

I would like to point out this not a true Bowie knife, that said, I like it a lot. it's really effective when dealing with vegetation. The color makes it hard to loose even at night and the large blade has good reach.
