        Does its job well

        Best Uses

Works as advertised. I split a couple of cords of tough, fibrous, knotty ash, and the Timber Blaster split the log chunks very well, but took 50 to 60 blows with a sledge to go through the knottiest of them. I have probably 2000 blows to the wedge, and it is mushrooming slightly at the impact surface (to be expected), but is still holding its form.

Tried splitting multiple blocks of oak. Not once did it split the blocks into separate pieces. Maybe with a 6-8" diameter block, but nothing bigger.

The splitting wedge broke after only a few uses. Very poor construction.

                    Terrible quality

                    Best Uses

I received this wedge as a gift for Christmas and liked the designed. However...

I recently had some large White Pine to split and this was doing an excellent job, but after splitting less than 20 pieces the splitting wedge cracked and with one more hit the wedge itself broke. The side of the wedge sheared off and is unuseable. I could understand if I had used it a lot on a hardwood but this was just soft pine. It is a good design but very poorly built.

                      Timber Blaster - not really

I usually do not write these, but this product was not even close to advertised. I have been spliting wood for over 30 years - I generally use an 8 lb maul and assist with a 10 lb sledge hammer when I run into stubborn, knotty bubbas. I previously used straight wedges and sledge as well. The timber blaster will actually pop up and out after a few swings of the sledge. I tried it on 75 yr old red oak and smaller 50 year oaks - it does not work - it continually popped out after a couple of swings....very frustrating. When it did finally work - moved out to the edge of log, it did a single split, not in four as advertised. I went back to my 8 lb maul to finish my work.

I have had some large pieces of firewood lying around for 2 yrs. Could never find a splitter to break it down. This little splitter did the job with ease. I am going to order a second one just in case I should loose this one. Recommend it HIGHLY.....Handyman
