    COMMENTS:

I got this to use as rain gear, but decided to try it out on my moose hunting trip. I used it for two week ends in solid alaskan down pour, and did't leak a drop. It is kinda loud for hunting gear, but that is not its intended porpoise. I have good quiet gear for that, I just wanted to check it out. It works out standing.

Great at repelling water and being loud

    COMMENTS:

My employer purchased this for me so as to have raingear when we go out in the field. It works well at the repelling of rain. But the Jacket is really loud and gets really warm. The pockets are good and the zippers, which are small, are sealed from the rain if you have them zipped up. Jacket is perfect if the weather is 45 - 65 degrees with rain other than that it will get really warm and sweaty. The side vents work great.

        COMMENTS:

Bought this before a 2 week fly fishing trip to Alaska. Used it constantly & it even became the world's first "Long Sleeve Fishing Vest". Held my flies, tippets, leaders, cell phone, keys, water bottle, etc. Bought this one for my son in San Francisco. He's very fashion conscious & he loved it. Bought it for him as a birthday trip & he wore it everywhere for the 4 straight days of his mother';s trip to San Francisco

        I give it a C

          COMMENTS:

First the Pros: The jacket seems well made. I am a XL but I bought it in 2XL to fit a fleece underneath for cold days. This worked out well and the jacket does not swim on me without the fleece. The jacket also acts as a very good wind stop. The zippers are all sealed so no wind or water intrudes through the zipper closures.

Now the Cons: The zipper pulls are small, especially on the pockets and lack pull lanyards so operating the zips with gloves is difficult. The bungee cords for cinching up the hood are smaller in diameter than other coats I own and not as effective at keeping the hood on one's head in windy conditions. When first out of the package, water ran off like water off a ducks back. However, I had to wash it and followed the instructions. Since washing it has lost its water shedding ability and absorbs water like a cotton beach towel- about as heavy too. The jacket has a rubber-like membrane inside, which keeps the water out, but with the outer layer soaked, the coat feels cold, damp and clammy. I tried a water proofing agent but that did not do much good. The jacket does not breath much so if you are working moisture will build up inside from sweating making the inside as wet as the outside. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this jacket as rainwear. I use it only as a wind block layer over a fleece on dry cool windy days. Look elsewhere for rainwear.
