This hat is so warm, It even keeps me warm when I step out without my coat for a momemt. I bought it because I take my dog for his first walk in the wee hours before dawn and last year the temps stayed in the 20's for weeks. ("Wee hours", get it???) Anyway, the point is the hat is too warm for any but the COLDEST WEATHER, but if you need it, you'll LOVE wearing it.
Fitment: I have a rather small head (size 7-1/4) and got the size medium. This fits the crown of my head well, what with all the rabbit fur and all.
Construction: seems well made, the leather is soft and flexible. You might get a tiny bit of rabbit shedding, but with all the golden retreiver hair in my world, who cares???
The rabbit fur over your ears is nothing short of "luxurious", though the inside of the crown is lined with a rayon material. Probably just as well for sanitary purposes.
Greatest complaint: there are tiny grommetted holes at each ear, presumably to let in some sound and ventilation. Over each hole is a furry flap that is fastened up or down by a button and a stretchy loop that must be slipped over the button. In my experience this is accomplished only by taking the hat off and fumbling around a great deal with both hands. Happily, once you decide whether you like them up or down you'll likely never bother with them again as there is no noticeable difference in the warmth factor because the rabbit has got you covered either way! Gotta love that rabbit!
Greatest complaint, Part II:
Another problem arises when I let the flaps down (for take-off!) and want to use the hook & loop (velcro) straps to snug it up under my chin: the straps are too long to make a snug fit, ie., it hangs loose below my chin when fastened. Solution: I plan to add a snap on the strap to allow a closer fit for my pea sized head! Again, this feature is only relevant when it is really cold and windy.
--by the way, flaps down do block quite a bit of sound, so if you have any hearing loss without the hat, you won't hear much at all with the flaps down for maximum warmth. So it goes...
Styling: a la "Hogan's Heros". 'Nuff said.

This is a great hat! Bought a medium for an eleven year old and it fit perfect. He loved it. The hat came with that worn-out feel and is warmer then any other hat he has worn.

I live in the middle of a National Forest and this hat is perfect for me. Helps keep me alive in deep snow and high winds. A worthy investment. Put your contact info in it and if you have a big head, order early. Took a few years for me, they sell out every year.
