This item is not waterproof as advertised. I was working out in the garden in a soft shower, and became very damp. I expected to see the water repel from the jacket but was sorely disappointed.
I was hoping to use the jacket as rain protection on my motorcycle, too. Looks like I'll have to keep on looking for another jacket.
I got to wear one of these sets (rain coat and pants) during test trials - and tested and tried it hard! In particular, I wore it a few days while building an addition on my cabin-in the rain, lots of rain. I had the construction area tarped so my helpers were able to work nailing things together, and to keep from soaking the exposed part of the cabin until we got it 'dried in.' But I was doing all of the material hustling, cutting and prep out from under the cover; it was OMG wet.
During one weekend alone all three days it rained. The persistent drizzle-to-torrential rain, mud, wind and ugly weather in general should have soaked me but I was dry as a bone and comfortable as I could be protected by this raingear and my Grindstone boots. I generated more dampness because of sweat than came through from the outside. It was awesome!
My only complaint about this set is the non-detachable hood. I sometimes wear a hard-hat while working. It is incompatible with a hood - it won't fit under it and can't fit over it - so it becomes a nice big raincatcher. One lean forward to pick something up off the ground and it dumps its contents. And that's not a fun thing.
