Good Product -- Poor Customer Support

By Dave the Archaeologist

Pros

  • Comfortable
  • Knee Pad Option
  • Light Weight

Cons

  • Poor customer support
  • Some shrinkage
  • Thin fabric

Best Uses

  • CASUAL WEAR
  • Light work

As an archaeologist, I purchased these for fieldwork in Alaska. While they are comfortable and great for casual wear, the fabric is a little too thin for walking around in underbrush. Also, they shrunk up about an inch after the first washing. The knee pad pockets are an innovative idea, and a good feature. Realistically -- I would have given them a higher rating, but company representatives never gave me the courtesy of a response to two e-mails with questions re. the local trades panel. As a long time customer, this lack of communication was insulting.

Great work pants a bit stiff

By r

from South Jersey

Verified Buyer

Pros

  • Great Fit
  • Knee Inserts
  • Tool Accssy Attach Points

Cons

  • A bit Stiff

Best Uses

  • General At Home Work

Have only used a couple of weekends. Sizing was right on as compared to other pants owned, so web ordering worked. Velcroed pocket closure great for retaining items and keys - or use the multiple at-belt hangers

        • Working While On My Knees

Working on inground swimming pools most of the year requires me to be on my knees quite often. I love the knee pad option as it is so much easier than having to put on knee pads every time I need them.

They've held up nicely thus far.

I am very impressed with how flexible these pants are. They are much more comfortable than any other pants I have worked in. The pockets are conveniently located. The knee pads are great for plumbing work and provide a lot of cushion. They honestly make for a better day. I am glad to have found these pants and will buy more as part of my uniform.

          Exceptional Pants

          • Roomy

          Cons

          • Hot

          Best Uses

I bought these pants instead of my usual jeans because they are just made too thin and tear fast. I have worn my fire hose pants a few times now and even though they get to be hot, I absolutely like them. There is a lot of room with the crotch gusset and the fabric is smooth and comfortable. Back to the heat issue; I work construction and am outside so when it gets to be 85-90, they seem to hold in some heat (that's why I gave them a 4). I like the deep pockets (side and back) and the cargo pockets come in handy.

I started working as a brewer assistant 8 months ago and have allready used up two pairs of carhardts. I've been working with my third pair. The firehouse pant so far handles getting wet a lot better, a little wet and it doesn't even get the pants wet if they get soaked because the pant is lighter it sticks right to your legs and it's cold but they do dry faster, I like them a lot better comfortable and styling. My issue with the carhardts is they have been wearing holes where I hold the kegs up close to me and use my legs to get them on their shelves. I think the firehose pant looks tough that they might last longer . I will write a follow up review in 6 months to see how well they last. Buy the way ,I'm buying another pair right now.
