      COMMENTS:

I have been accumulating jackets, hoodies, fleeces, rain gear etc for ages. They are good for 2 days out of the year here in the NorthEast. I was in desperate need of a jacket light enough for spring and fall, flexible and roomy enough for layering in the winter, weather-proof enough for rain and snow, tough enough for real work and good looking enough that I didn't look like a color-blind hobo. This chore coat has allowed me to regain 80% of my closet volume and a considerable tax break from Goodwill. It answers every need I had and more. Good looking coat, indestructible, weather resistant and pockets galore. It's a winner.

      COMMENTS:

I struggled to find accurate sizing information, so I'll share what I've learned.
      My measurements: 46" chest, 42" gut, 36" sleeve, 16.5" neck, 6'1" tall.
I usually wear XL in most of everything, but I ordered down to Large (standard height) and it was still far too roomy. After a long hot wash followed immediately by a hot dry cycle, it shrank to what I consider a great fit for this kind of coat- still just a little roomy for mobility or to layer a hoodie or flannel, but it doesn't catch the wind or bunch up when I sit.
The neck isn't too snug, arm length is perfect, back length is good.

As far as construction, the firehose fabric is much more flexible and folds more compactly than the standard duck chore coat. Vastly better comfort, poorer wind and rain resistance. The "dark camel" color is definitely a little darker from typical tan cotton duck.
The interior liner is comfortable and lightweight, and makes it easy to pull layered sleeves through.
My main gripe with the coat is that a couple of interior pockets use hook-and-loop ("velcro") flaps to hold them closed, and I think it feels a little cheap. It was removed easily with a seam ripper, and I placed buttons there instead. I think the jacket could use fewer pockets in general (There are 13 compartments total,) but that's just me.

All said and done, I do really like the coat and the price seems reasonable. Just keep in mind that they run about a size large after they shrink in the wash.

        COMMENTS:

I needed a lined jacket to put over layers in the Winter and use on its own in Spring and Fall. Over the years I've accumulated shirt/jacs, fleeces, light jackets and all manner of closet stuffing nonsense that never works for one reason or another. I can now jettison all that. The Chore Coat is the perfect weight, roominess, durability and utility that it promised and I needed. First outing was into an early March windy sleet storm. The Chore Coat over a thick cotton sweater was a perfect combo to get me to work unscathed and warm. I've been a Duluth guy since Bush1 was in the Whitehouse and they never disappoint.
