Cons

    COMMENTS:

I bought this jacket for traveling and for cool Fall or Spring days in Oregon where I live. It does the job nicely. I like military style jackets for their practicality, functionality, and durability, and this jacket hits the sweet spot. I'm a trim-sized person, so this jacket is a bit bulky.

Nice cotton bomber / tanker style jacket

        COMMENTS:

I wanted something that was a little bit higher wasted than most jackets today, easily washable, and mostly cotton. This is a nice riff on a WWII bomber jacket, with a few features that are more like a WWII tanker jacket. THE POSITIVES: (1) It has a ton of pockets. Outside: two zipper pockets, two button pockets, two handwarmer pockets, and a zipper chest pocket. Inside: five total pockets; a wallet sized velcro pocket on the right, and the left has a large 6x6 inch pocket, one that would hold a iPhone 6, and two pen pockets. (2) Rib knit cuffs, waistband, and collar. This really helps to seal out the cold. They're nice and sturdy cotton blend cuffs that are a like olive drab green, which contrasts the dark khaki body. (3) The herringbone cotton of the shell is sturdy and repels moisture pretty well. It's also a decent windbreaker and kept me warm in 35 F rain snow mix in Denver. (4) Metal zippers which seem pretty sturdy. (5) Cotton poplin lining in the body, which is nice and warm, and doesn't get clammy. THE NEGATIVES: (1) The cut is weird, but similar to other Duluth Trading items, in that the waist is probably as big, if not bigger, than the chest. I'm a 39 inch chest with a 32 inch waist, so the jacket makes me look like I'm smuggling a tire. The waist is also a little long, especially for the length of the arms. (2) The cuffs only get so narrow, probably because they're a thick cotton rather than wool or acrylic. I have skinny wrists, so there is room for cold breezes to sneak in. (3) The sleeves are lined with nylon. This nylon lining transfers cold, and I don't get why Duluth Trading keeps doing this in many of their otherwise warm jackets. Poplin would have been fine; I have poplin lining in the sleeves of my leather A-2 bomber, so I know it doesn't hurt anything. (4) The zippers don't lock (or lock well), so the main zipper tends to creep down. OVERALL: A good 3 season jacket that needs some minor tweaks, including a Trim cut or Small size.
