I've been putting a lot of work into getting my SUV running and I wanted to get my hands on something to keep a few things I might need with me, without being cheap and falling apart. This is absolutely what I was looking for and was a GREAT birthday present from my girlfriend.
First, it's made to be strong. There's nothing about this box that feels cheap or flimsy. The main compartment has solid side walls so it stays up and won't mind if you're not nice to it during emergencies. The overall design of this thing is smart and simple. The handles are durable rope material that goes completely around the case, which also hooks into any floor anchors you have in your vehicle. to tighten the slack, just use the handle and join to two parts together and that's it. It also has some nice velcro bottom strips on the bottom, but I have a rubber trunk mat that I use, so I rely on the securing hooks to keep the bag steady while I'm driving. The main compartment can be divided into three with the removable walls, and the walls also have pockets on the side. On the outside, there's additional space on the front and the backside for more. All of it is contained primarily with the once piece rope and metal zippers. Even the zippers themselves have phillips head shaped handle. I'm sure that wasn't an accident.
You can fit a LOT into this bag without making a mess. Right now I have wiper fluid, emergency folding triangle, first aid kit, mylar blankets, rechargeable battery pack/jumper box, socket set w/extensions, screwdrivers, crescent wrench, v-grips, magnetic work light, hand held flashlight, 1qt of oil, 7ft x 9ft tarp with tiedowns, tire repair kit with inflator, and a small fire extinguisher. I still have room to spare. If you live in an area with tough winters, or you drive a lot, you can't beat having something like this in your vehicle. For as roomy as this thing is, it surprisingly doesn't take up much room in my vehicle. Absolutely awesome box. Love it.
A great way to start a custom road side emergency gear duffle bag, which it is geared towards. Makes for a great tool bag as well.
It's really sturdy and overbuilt. It has removable dividers to have three sections; I currently use it in the trunk to hold typical roadside emergency gear, weekend survival gear and work related gear. I thinking of getting one for just being an ammo carrier for range trips in the desert.
Bottle cap opener works fantastically, though the way it's positioned in the trunk of my car, it's easier to lift the whole bag up by hand above the bottle to avoid spilling beer. looks comicial when men are passing a duffle bag around to open drinks, but it works; would rather have it than be without.
