I call it the great escape. Escape from bugs I mean. you know the ones that buzz around your ears and drive you crazy? This hat really works. As soon as the bugs come out, this goes on. The fit is perfect too. Plus, you can secure it on your head, which is an added bonus. I could not go on vacation without it.
Another bonus? Shipping from Duluth Trading Post is so quick you won't believe it! I love that!

Living in SC, I am tormented by bugs that attempt to fly into my eyes and ears. This makes it difficult to work on the lawn or in the garden. I tried this hat twice and on both occasions, the bugs were landing on my eyebrows within a few minutes. When my spouse came outside and told me that a dozen or so bugs were sitting on the top of the hat, I gave up. Both hats that we ordered have been returned.
On the positive side, I have been pleased with the service provided thus far by Duluth Trading Company and would order from them in the future.

I am the last person to ever think I would write a review. I have to be honest that I was skeptical when I bought this thinking it would be a waste of money but I am very surprised to say it really works! We live in the Adirondack Mountains in NY where we have black flies and deer flies for two months out of every short summer. I am like a fly attractant but once I put this hat on it actually keeps the bugs away from me. Can't say enough good things about it.

I was working in my vegetable garden without my hat and the gnats were everywhere! Went back in for my hat and when I went back to the garden with it on - no more gnats. Perfect.

I have been looking for a hat for birding and hiking that is lightweight and will shield the sun but not have a large brim. This is perfect, and as an added bonus, the "Bugaway" feature really works. I was walking through a damp, forested area recently with a group of birders. Mosquitoes were everywhere, but only one of them came even close to me, and it didn't land. Fantastic! Nobody wants to be swatting at bugs while trying to spot or watch a bird. Thumbs up to this hat!
