Nice, but loop failed

Comments about Heavy Duty Retractor Carabiner:

I really liked the design and usability of the retractor, but the wire loop frayed (and stabbed me). I managed to tie the wire in a knot to fix it, but I was disappointed that the loop was not more durable. I had to replace it with a different retractor for my (too many) keys. The retractor spring was strong enough and the mechanism to hold the loop is a bit odd, but worked fine until the loop started to come undone at one of the end crimps. Wish it had lasted. Liked the design.

Comments about Heavy Duty Retractor Carabiner:

I used this at work it keeps my utility knife with the blade closed where I don't have to stop and go find my knife. When I'm not at work I use the retractable tether when I fishing and hunting.

Comments about Heavy Duty Retractor Carabiner:

I like that there are many features to this product, including being able to take off the keeper and that it uses a cable instead of a split-ring. It's a little bulky for my needs, just my work keys and employee badge, but I'm sure if you need to keep track of a piece gear in the field like a flashlight or other tool it will do the job.

        Re-engineer!

        By Joe Gallagher

        from East Tennessee

        Pros

        • Good idea
        • GREAT Idea

        Cons

        • Difficult to set up
        • Difficult to use

        Best Uses

        • Keeps A Repeat Tool Handy

Comments about Heavy Duty Retractor Carabiner:

Some of the product self-ballyhoo on the package might well be replaced with a serious set of instructions.

The line-brake, and both 'quick-disconnect' attachments are very difficult to manage, and while the product works well once it is set up, getting there is unnecessarily difficult.

The product design and construction are good; the production engineering not so much.
