I spend a lot of time in my garden. Caught poison ivy a couple of years ago, and seem to have developed disposition to the 'itchies' even when not in contact with the the poison weed. When I start to itch, I apply Tecnu to my hands and wrists, rub it around 2 minutes according to directions, and the itch goes away almost immediately. Love its effectiveness.

I put this on before engaging in Poison Ivy/Sumac removal in our garden and yard. After i'm done with removal I lather up the arms and legs again before getting in a cool shower, followed by some pool time just to be on the safe side. Never had a problem with Poisonous plants b4 this year and once was 2 many times... Never again, thanks to TECNU. The price was really reasonable also. Just check your local area stores and see what they want for a 4 oz bottle of this stuff and you'll agree!

I have used Tecnu for years. It is highly effective at removing the poison oils that cause rash and related itching. Make sure to wash your gloves with Tecnu as directed to avoid further spread of the oils.

I consider myself to be a poison oak expert. I am in the woods and around it every week and I get it incredibly bad. While there are other great oak and ivy cleanser alternatives to TECNU I find it to be the most effective and least expensive option. After years of spending a fortune on the largest bottles I could find in stores I have started ordering these 32 oz bottles and refilling smaller bottles.

Use. My advice is to start by carefully stripping off the exposed clothes (you'll want to add a little TECNU to your laundry loads later). After that, use TECNU to clean your hands so you don't continue to spread oils sitting on top of your hands. Then, start with any exposed areas and if you are truly worried, wash everywhere you don't want poison oak, not just where you were exposed. Jump in the shower and make sure you use plenty of water. While I of course don't recommend hot, hot water I don't think you need to torture yourself with cold water either, as some people will recommmend.

I have learned through experience that whatever incovenience careful cleansing causes is far better than weeks of weeping, pussing and itching misery.

Two more cents. If you know you are exposed to poison oak in the wild (you brush against it with skin) you are far better off trying to remove the oils IMMEDIATELY (you have a matter of minutes) with whatever you have at your disposal (copious amounts of water and dry dirt) than waiting hours to use TECNU.

The downsides. TECNU is pertroleum based. Not the healthiest stuff to be putting on all your sensitive tissue or near your eyes. It not only sucks poison oak oils (urishol) out of your pores but also takes your natural moisture with it and it will dry you out.

I bought this for my nephew that works for our city utilites company. He is exposed to Poison Ivy on a regular basis and needed something that works and he loves this product. I had an allergic reaction after rubbing my wrist against a red bud tree branch.Iused this and the burning and blistering left immediately.

I have suffered for years with oak & ivy rashs. Until I found tecnu. Its even put my in the hospital. On a night navigation couse in Texas I found myself completly surrounded in every direction by poison oak. I was covered in it. When I got finished I showered with tecnu and washed all my gear in it aswell. I got away with no rash, no iching. And if I do get a rash, I just was down with it and stops it cold

After moving to our dream home in the country, I seriously thought we'd have to move. I was unable to work outside without contracting a severe poison ivy rash/breakout. I don't even remember who told me about Tecnu but they swore it worked. I was skeptical since NOTHING had ever worked for me. I started using Tecnu and haven't been bothered by poison ivy since. I use it frequently and have no trouble working outside now.

I have a real problem with Poison Oak. About 20 years ago I discovered tecnu and started using it BEFORE I went mountain biking and leave it on like sunscreen. I have never had a problem again. I use it for work and play.
