I just got this knife, and I have used it to dig, as a lever to dig, cut stubborn weeds & stalks. It is so tough, and really I just enjoy using it! I would highly recommend it for anyone who likes to dig in the garden!

I use the Hori Hori knife every day for pruning, transplanting, and general uses. I've given it as a gift to a gardener friend who also loved it. Just ordered myself a second one to have around the greenhouse.

I bought this for a friend who is a master gardener. She loved it at first sight.

Very useful for planting bedding plants as well as dividing various plants during the growing year.

Comments about Gardening Knife - Japanese Hori Hori Knife:

I use this knife for digging at roots and weeding. Is effective when cutting roots and planting small plants or bulbs. It is solid and has held up well. My only complaint, and it is a big one if you are a left handed person, is that it is completely designed for right handed people. It is awkward for a lefty or in tight spots. The curve of the blade works best in your right hand. The blade is only on one side therefore it can be difficult to get at angles.

My husband was anxious to get the knife in time to clear out beds this fall. In the first 5 minutes the blade bent. We returned the knife!

Comments about Gardening Knife - Japanese Hori Hori Knife:

I have heard great reviews of the Hori Hori from various master gardeners and decided to get one from Duluth based on the reviews on the site. What I got, in terms of craftsmanship of the product was FAR less than expected. My first concern, the tang of the hori hori (the part that is seated into the wooden handle) only extends halfway into the handle. In a short time (less than 4 hours of overall use) the blade is loose and the handle wobbles a bit. The second thing is that the synthetic sheath that comes with the item is just about useless as it is a flimsy piece of vinyl with a plastic snap. For paying over $30 for the tool and shipping one would expect better quality.
