The hat is great for working outside all day. It isn't lightweight, but it breathes well with ventilation holes at the sides. The front of the brim is very protective, but the back brim is about the same size and doesn't protect your neck from the sun. But it's not that kind of hat and that's what clothing is for, so I don't see it as a bad thing.
It's great that it has a strap to keep it from flying off, but it's a really cheap double-layer thin leather strap and I expect that it won't last long.
As to fit ... I'd say that the sizes run a little small. I have a relatively big head and the hat fits okay, but I couldn't take it any smaller. I got a large, but maybe I should have gotten an extra-large. Still, I can't imagine that a relatively small person should need the largest size they have.
Unfortunately, only the size small comes in all colors. The other sizes only come in yellow and sand.

I bought this to hike/packpack in and it will do fine for that. I did not like the stiff cord but it was very easy to replace. It is good to keep the sun off.

I use it every day when getting my mail or taking a walk. I recently took it with me on a trip and it worked perfectly! So easy to wash, too!

This is the first time I have been able to order a hat of any kind for shade that I did not have to send back because it was too small--------even the one-size-fits-all kinds. I have a very big head!! It also does not blow off like every other hat I have ever used in a boat.
The only thing I don't like about it is that the top of the hat is too shallow and mashes my hair so I have a flat-top when I take it off. A little higher top would be more attractive too.

Being a volunteer doing genealogy work, I often am out tramping around cemeteries, in blazing sunshine & heat. A good hat is a must for my fair skin & to avoid "cooking" my brain. Have found claims by seller are true, except I really wish the brim were about 2" wider. Would buy this hat with a wider brim in a flash! A wider brim would also make it more attractive, I think.
