Love this shirt, but...

By Julie B

from Iowa

Pros

  • Everyday
  • Flattering
  • Lightweight

Cons

  • Puckers On Interfacing
  • Snags easily

Best Uses

  • play
  • Work

I love this shirt; I have two of them. After it was wash a couple of times, I started to notice little snags on the first one. I bought a second and started only washing on the delicate cycle. It still had snags. In addition to the snags, it looks like the interfacing on the collar and cuffs isn't adhered well. It's not really that noticeable, but I see it because I sew. I'm writing this review hoping Duluth can correct the issues.

Too tight in the upper arms. why would they do that for active wear?

        Work Horse Summer Shirt

        By C. Hoffman

        from Los Angeles, CA

        Pros

        • Comfortable

        Cons

        • Not enough solid colors

        • Sun Protection

Combine this with Dry on the Fly Skort and you have a great Friday office look. Combine it with a pencil skirt or an A-line, you have the rest of the week. Don't want to continually apply sunscreen? Put this on. Dries so fast you don't need to toss in the dryer. Just hang up in an open area. I kayak and it takes splashes and gets rid of them fast. More colors please. I have the guava. I wish there were a medium blue, a green, a white...you get the idea. This could be a real summer staple if there were a whole rainbow of colors. (I wore a pencil skirt with a flannel plaid shirt last winter, I am going to try a plaid Armachillo with the same skirt this summer.)

This shirt is so good. I wish they came in larger sizes. I am 40DD wear an 18/20 and was able to wear the 2X. I wore these on an adventure travel trip to the amazon rainforest and they were perfect. The were so lightweight and cool that the extreme heat and humidity was okay. I was able to handwash every two days and it took about 1 days to dry. I don't think there is a better shirt for this type of travel. Excelent protection from sun and insects on the boat and in the forest. One thing, is they are performance fabric so they absorb body odors. You might want to take some performance fabric detergent to get the odors out. As for not being breathable, the fabric is lightweight and has the vents and therefore, it's not absorbing sweat like a natural fiber would. Also a natural fiber that is this lightweight would not give you the sunprotection. I was on a boat for 4-5 hours a day with no sunscreen and the shirt protected me.

        A love-hate relationship

        By Patty

        from NW Missouri

        Pros

        Cons

        • Bit pricey
        • odor problem

        Best Uses

I had the same experience as Desertina from AZ who posted a comment on June 18th, 2015. Mine were the plaid shirts. Basically, love the shirt, hate the odor problem. I posted a comment on 7/5/15 under the plaid shirts experiencing the same issue she had experienced.

          Service and delivery comments:

Delivery was very prompt and the shirts were in good condition.

I love this shirt and like it best as a second layer over a tank or t-shirt, thus my favorites were when you had it in short sleeves. I use the long sleeves rolled up with the snap holders as well, but find the short sleeve more comfortable for my gardening. Also I need a white shirt, please, long or short......

Sadly, not up to dealing with Arizona heat

          By Desertina

          from Arizona

          Pros

          • Beautifully Constructed
          • Fits Well

          Cons

          • Not "cooling"

          Best Uses

I really really wanted to love this shirt. So much so that I bought THREE of them. I work outside a lot, year round, and summer heat in central Arizona is pretty formidable.
These shirts look nice, and are well made. Beautifully made, in fact. Yes, they do have a bit of a rumpled look after laundering, but that doesn't bother me.
I usually wear a size 10 to 12 in a shirt, and ordered the medium, and it fits great... the sleeves are even long enough, which is usually a problem for me.
But the performance.... well, yes, it's very lightweight. But I didn't ever feel really "cooled" by the shirt. It was a little less annoying than other light-weight long-sleeve shirts on a summer day here...that was all.
And here was the BIG problem: Due, I'm supposing, to the 100% synthetic fiber, there was really no "breathing" going on, and, well, I did not smell very nice. I use a natural deodorant that works PERFECTLY all the time, even in the highest of heat and sweatiest of days. But apparently, non-breathable fabric inhibits the effectiveness. Pretty embarrassing, since I work with the public all the time.
So, well... I guess I have three expensive shirts that I will have to save until cooler weather, since they do not perform well in the heat AT ALL. Rats.

After being diagnosed with melanoma several years ago, I've spent hundreds trying to find comfortable, well fitting, flattering sun shirts. In the past, they've been either too big, too small, or unflattering. Leave it to Duluth to put out a product with the fit and styling I've been looking for! I purchased two to begin with and have just ordered another. They are exceptionally made, the material is soft, cool and they wash and dry beautifully. I JUST REALLY WISH THAT THEY WOULD COME IN WHITE! PLEASE?

I do think this shirt is cooler than other long sleeve shirts. I would like to have it in BLUE please. It does have some wrinkles when it comes out of the dryer. But for wearing at the ranch it is just fine.
It have good coverage. I am worried about the claim for sun screen. I am hoping that there are not any bad chemicals in the material since I am very careful to stay away from them.
