Great socks can be hard to locate. I had tried "SmartWool" hiking socks before and knew the brand. When I saw that Duluth trading carried the brand FOR women, I checked the sizing charts and realized the Large size was perfect for me. The built-in arch support, the roomy toe box and the superior wool used are well worth their cost. They're an even better purchase when done in quantity discount! In fact, the review asks if I would recommend this item to a friend. I have already done so to my doctor, who thinks they are great.

I ride horseback almost daily, and have struggled with foot warmers, etc., for years. No more. These not only fit perfectly and come in lots of colors that can be worn for dress or for riding, now I don't have to try to keep track of the foot warmers any more!

I find most wool items to be scratchy, but these were not. As noted, warm, they stay up and not too bulky. I did find the top band to be just a little tight - and I have stick legs. I've had them a while and they wash perfectly. I try to pull them out of the dryer early, but sometimes they go through the whole drying cycle. They don't shrink and seem like they will last forever. They are expensive, but I think they are worth the money.

I've been wearing SmartWool socks for close to two decades. They have never disappointed me! I started out wearing their hiking socks and quickly graduated to light hikers, crew socks and then their knee socks. My friends know I won't wear any other socks. Duluth Trading has the best selection. The really nice thing about these socks is that your feet stay warm in cold weather and cool in hot weather. They last for years! Give them a try, you'll love 'em.
I bought 1 pair and wanted to buy another pair or two in different colors. But they were sold out by the time I got back to order. So stock up more for next year. I guess the Christmas shoppers bought 'em up this year.
These Smart Wool knee high socks actually do go up to the knee. Other socks I have bought are always a little too short, requiring periodic pulling up.
I am very pleased with these socks, would have bought a couple more pairs if they had been available.
These are the best socks ever. Softest wool.
Warm feet all winter.
Good for both outside and walking on concrete floors all day.

These are substantial, warm knee socks. I can wear regular shoes a lot longer in the late fall before moving to boots with these socks. Note that the foot is rather thick, so they may not fit in tight shoes.
