The MoonLit Lamp's grippy gear tie tail is the next best thing to a spare hand. Wrap it around tent poles, trusses, bed posts, even your arm to bring bright illumination to the most awkward spots.

Cool but underwhelming

By Under a Full Moon

from Glendale, CA

Pros

  • Cool design
  • Strobe light

Cons

  • Hard to turn on and off
  • Weak light

Best Uses

  • Halloween costumes
  • Raves

This light is smaller than you might think from the picture. The light pod is about the size of a silver dollar. It has just one LED bulb in the pod and casts a very dim light. I had planned to hang it from the clothes hanger bar in my small hall closet, to illuminate the toolboxes on the floor when I'm rummaging for tools but it doesn't cast enough light for that purpose. It certainly doesn't serve well as the "area light" suggested in the product name, unless that area is the inside of a coffee can.

You turn the light on and off by squeezing the light pod. Squeeze once to turn it on, squeeze again to make it flash like a strobe light, and a third time to turn it off. It requires strong fingers! Children would probably need to squeeze with both hands and still might not be able to turn it on. If you have arthritic hands you should definitely skip this item.

I'm going to attach this thing to a hat and use it as part of my costume next Halloween. If you know any teens or twenty-somethings who go to raves they'd probably love this item, especially with the strobe light setting.
