Great weight and blade curve make brush work quick and easy. Seems to old an edge well. Use daily in maintaining tree line for 20 plus acres of horse/cattle ranch. Handle is made of quality wood but slips while wearing gloves. Easier to hold bare handed.

a very durable tool that required a little technique development at first. buyers should be warned, you can get carried away like I did the first time I went to use it. just a little trimming to see how it works..... 1.5 hrs later I had worked my way around the whole property and left quite a mess to clean up......

i am clearing heavy brush around mayhaw trees that are on my new property, and make room for more orchard. The Golok makes short work of anything I take it after, chopping one and a half inch Yaupon in a single stroke. It holds an edge very well, yet sharpens easily, even when cutting into the ground. I keep it with me on the tractor, all day everyday, and wipe it with an oiled rag after the day is done. I keep it sharp with a few strokes of medium grit Kratex stick. I'm getting another for my son, and expect to pass mine to a grandson one day.

The Gerber Brush Thinner has been my primary go-to machete for 3 years...until I found the Golok. I have replaced the sheath with a Marble 14" Nylon sheath for many reasons (and carry options), and this machete has been with me every since. I have cleared semi-large campsites for deer season (6 in the party), even used it to chop wood for the fire due to a "misplaced" axe, this thing took a helluva beating and begged for more. Worth every penny and have purchased and extra for safe keeping and "just in case". Buy it, you will not be sorry.

What's not to like. It is more than I expected, and well worth the price--you will agree when you see it. Everything is high quality, and the feel is just perfect in use. It's nothing like the usual thin blade with small square-cross-section handle. The blade of a machete is usually less than 3mm thick, but not this bad boy! Your grandson will appreciate this quality tool.

I've had this machete about two years now and I can say without a doubt it is the best machete I've ever had. Yes it is much more expensive than those you would find at a hardware store but unless you are trying to cut rebar, the Condor Golok will last you decades. The sinuous shape of the blade (in real life it looks a bit more exaggerated, the tip is thicker and the neck is thinner) keeps the weight forward helping cutting or cutting while the ¼" thick blade prevents bending and twisting. The handle is a thick dark wood and the curve allows for a pistol style grip at the very bottom which I find very comfortable for long periods of use. The only downside I can think of is that the thickness of the blade might make it more difficult to sharpen than a thinner machete but its well worth it. Also, its carbon steel so don't forget to oil the blade when you are done.
