Made from solid brass, this incredible pencil sharpener was originally developed by the German brand DUX in the early 1950s. The dial on the end — known as a knurl — allows the user to adjust the blades to one of three different levels. To use, simply turn the knurl with a satisfying click to the desired depth and sharpen away. The variability makes this the perfect tool for a number of disciplines, from the technical draftsman or architect who requires a very sharp point to the designer or artist who may want a more blunt tip for sketching. It also allows one to adjust the sharpener to the tool at hand — for example, fragile colored pencils, which are prone to over sharpening, can be kept at a dull point.
