AN ADVENTURE LIKE NO OTHER FROM PORTLAND TO PORTLAND
Pete and Taylor (Tay for short), here, got a notion that they’d like to take more road trips together. So they bought a van, ripped the insides out completely and converted it into a home on wheels themselves – all so they could live 100% of the time on the road. Which sounds like a reasonable, Duluth kind of plan to us! In the middle of applying all that elbow grease, they picked up an appreciation for our durable workwear.
So when Pete and Tay began gearing up for a journey from Portland, OR, to Portland, ME, we just had to invite them to stop at Duluth Trading Stores along the way. Dig in below to see highlights from their coast-to-coast adventure. And then stop into a Duluth store near you to say hi. We’d love to hear whatever wild plan you’re up to.
THE JOURNEY BEGINS IN PORTLAND
Did we mention there’s a third member of the crew on this road trip? His name is Snoop. He’s a giant softie. And he’s a dog. Which is why he got the royal treatment here – Portland, OR, is one of the most dog-friendly cities in the US. You’ll find dog bowls sitting by the entrance at our Duluth Portland store.
STAY ON THE LOOKOUT FOR DULUTH IN GOLDEN
Pete and Tay swung by Golden on their way through Colorado, but Snoop just keeps stealing the show. On their list to hit while in town: Buffalo Bill’s burial site, looking out at Lookout Mountain (great view of it from the Duluth parking lot), and a brewery tour at some famous place we legally can’t name here.
ONE 'LIL BREAKDOWN AND THEN BACK AT IT
Omaha! There was one little hiccup on the way (if you live on the road, breakdowns are just part of life). But once they arrived, Pete found something that amazed him at the Duluth store – the Waffle Union Suit, A.K.A. butt-flap pajamas. Check out the video. And if you’re ever in town to visit the fine people at the store, be sure to check out the Old Market as well. There’s nothing quite like it.
WELCOME HOME, FOLKS
It all started here. With a small crew of contractors who thought, “There’s gotta be a better way,” when it comes to organizing their tools on the job. We won’t blubber about home too much, but suffice to say Pete and Tay loved everything about Duluth that we love about it. They stopped at the store before heading to the lakefront to check out the famous Lift Bridge.
CRUISING ALONG THE TROLLWAY
LET'S HEAR IT FOR O-H-I-O
One more quick stop, this time in a packed Columbus store. Built like a brick garage, it’s one of the most unique Duluth stores you’ll find. The folks working the store are known to do a certain cheer upon request. Go ahead, ask!
Also keep your eyes peeled for Pete in the video. Blink and you’ll miss him…
THINGS ARE STARTING TO LOOK BRIGHTER
PITTSBURGH STEELS THE SHOW
FEEL THE LOVE IN PHILLY
Getting close to the end now! Time for a stop in the City of Brotherly Love. You’d expect the folks you meet in the Duluth store here to be extra friendly. And they are – they just happen to love a good cheesesteak, too. Check out the tool museum inside then store, then take a tour downtown to learn about the founding fathers.
SAVING THE BEST FOR LAST
Pete and Tay rolled up their cross-country adventure by arriving just in time for the Grand Opening of our newest east coast store. On the docket? Catching up with the Duluth crew, a little axe throwing, and a jaunt through the jaw-dropping Acadia National Park. Side note if you’re flying into town: you literally can’t miss the store. The Duluth logo is plastered all across the roof.
