      COMMENTS:

I own an older version of this jacket, and have used it for riding for several years. Some minor wear, but in very good shape. I've lost some weight and wanted a better fitting one, and ordered the new version. Same ruggedness, but it has an added chest pocket (like to put my wallet in one and cell phone in the other) and lower back (kidney) protector. I expect to be using this one for several years also. Oh, I'm a third generation Harley owner and have been riding since I was very young.

      COMMENTS:

I purchased this jacket because I have the Firehose Hanger Bender Shirt-jac. I like the Shirt-jac, but I don't wear it because it's too heavy to wear as a 'shirt' and too dysfunctional to wear as a 'jacket'. So I bought this jacket hoping it would work better for my photography trips on cooler days. It is a quality jacket no doubt. But there are two major flaws.

      1. - The sleeves are just plain too long! They are 2 1/2" too long.
      2. - With no collar, the neckline rubs into your neck all the way around.

I ordered the XL version of this jacket. Unfortunately I fall in between the L size and XL size. I'm 5' 9" - 215lbs. I had to travel at the end of March to Sioux Falls, SD and went to the Duluth store there because I REALLY prefer to try things on for the fit before I buy. However, they had no jackets or coats what so ever. (A real disappointment.) A few 'rain' type jackets and that was it. Looks like they had transitioned their inventory to summer clothing already, with plenty of shorts everywhere, but no jackets suitable to wear in the spring. (Note to Duluth, in SD we like to buy our spring jackets "in the spring".)

Since the store had nothing for me to try on first, I took a chance and ordered XL, since I fall between L and XL, generally I need the XL for a loose enough fit. I honestly don't know what to do with this jacket. I suspect a L would be just slightly too tight and I don't want to send this one back only to get another one that I'd have to send back. (I really wished they had these in the store to try on first!) I'll give it a few days and see what I think. The sleeves being too long are annoying and the neckline rubbing on my neck, especially in the front on my throat, is uncomfortable, but neither of these are extreme.

Overall, this jacket comes close to being the perfect jacket. It's great quality and has a great look. But the lack of a collar, or odd neckline, with the long sleeves dings this review down to 3 stars.

        COMMENTS:

I have been wearing this coat for motorcycle ridin for many years . 50,000 miles wearing this coat. The only issue is the sleeve ends will catch some wind and the jacket can almost inflate and you ride down the road looking like the Pillsbury dough boy. So you pull your sweat shirt sleeves out and then zip the zipper on the sleeve and your good to go. I've been wearing it for at least 8 years and the wear is minimal. Except for color fade. Sun bleaching.

          COMMENTS:

I'm not sure what people are saying about this not being windproof. As long as you've got gloves on that are also made for cold weather you won't have any wind rushing up your arms. Unless you just have tiny wrists and shouldn't be shopping with Duluth anyway. I can't stress how great this jacket is. My legs were freezing in the 26 degrees night I was in the other night, upper body was fine. In fact, could you guys start making similar pants, for those of us who hate leather.
