Cut and carved by hand from a single piece of solid maple, this handsome bread board is sanded seven times and soaked in three different oil baths for a smooth, long-lasting finish. The long, rectangular shape is perfectly suited to serving up crusty loaves of bread, but equally at home with charcuterie and cheese. The gently rounded corners, beveled edges and extended handle all speak to meticulous attention to detail. A final coating of mineral oil and propolis (also known as “bee glue”) is applied to lightly seal the wood. Maker Allison Samuels makes each piece herself at her studio in New York, with a focus on minimalist design and impeccable craftsmanship. Fine enough for hosting and durable enough for daily use, it’s an invaluable piece in any kitchen.
