Best Made Stoneware Pasta Bowl
Best Made was founded on the principle that an object should be both appealing and useful, not destined for a display case. Our latest collection of stoneware made by Wilson Creek Pottery would be a case in point. Each pasta bowl is hand thrown and glazed a stately black and, as attractive as the stoneware may be for serving guests, is made durable enough for its use to be a daily affair. The potter uses a recipe for red clay unique to her studio – the result being stoneware that’s exceptionally chip-resistant as well as freezer, oven, microwave and dishwasher safe. The base of all stoneware from Wilson Creek Pottery is left naked, free of glaze, where you will find both the potter’s and Best Made’s stamp of quality imprinted.
ABOUT WILSON CREEK POTTERY:
Ashley Pfannenstiel had an artistic bent and was searching for a change of pace from her hectic Chicago career. Then in 2012, she and Wilson Creek Pottery co-owner Shannon Porter discovered a little site tucked in the driftless hills of Spring Green, Wisconsin. It was a farmhouse and a pottery studio, built inside a converted 90-year-old cheese factory. Ashley has been making the 30-foot commute to her studio most every day since. She still throws every vessel offered by Wilson Creek Pottery herself, firing them inside a gas-reduction kiln. While the stoneware is quite uniform piece to piece, you will find small distinct ridges on the surface – each the literal fingerprint of the woman who made it.
