Safety Considerations

All instructions are intended to familiarize the wearer with the potential of serious injury or death; and with limitations of the garment to minimize harm from short-duration thermal exposure.

Limitations of Use

The garment will not protect against any extended exposure to flame or heat or exposure to chemicals, hot liquids or steam. It should not be used in any firefighting or other emergency operation.

This garment will not protect you if not properly maintained. Do not use this garment if soiled, contaminated or damaged. Clean this garment in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and the instructions provided in this user information.

Marking Recommendations and Restrictions

Any modifications made to the garment, including the addition of non-flame-resistant lettering, embroidery, patches, emblems, heat transfers, silkscreens, etc. should be avoided if possible. If used they must be limited to a size no larger than a credit card.

It is recommended that any garment identification markings be on the interior of the garment.

For handwritten marking an industrial laundry marker may be used. Do not mark on or through Certification markings.

Warranty Information

We stand by the craftsmanship and durability of our products. If you are not satisfied with any item you purchase from Duluth Trading, return it for a refund within one year. After one year, we will also consider returns for items that are defective or don’t perform as claimed.

If you are dissatisfied with your flame-resistant workwear purchase for any reason, please return to our stores or reach out to our customer service team. All FR items returned must have the original FR Return Notice hangtag and other hangtags attached. Once the hangtags are removed, we cannot accept a return unless there is a problem with the craftsmanship.

This warranty does not cover FR product damaged due to misuse, accident, modification, improper care, negligence or normal wear and tear.

Sizing Adjustment

Choose a garment size that properly fits your body. The garment should not be too tight or too loose, should not restrict your movement and should be comfortable to wear.

When selecting a garment, refer to the sizing chart below to ensure you select the size that correctly matches your body dimensions.

Recommended Storage Practices

After each cleaning, your FR garment should be stored in a place that will provide protection from direct sunlight, heat and excessive moisture. Continued exposure to sunlight or storing while wet may cause fabric deterioration and permanent damage that can compromise the integrity of your garment.

Inspection Frequency and Details

We recommend that your FR garment be inspected for damage or defects before and after each use, and after each cleaning.

Inspect each garment for damage of materials: holes, rips, cuts, abrasion or high wear, charring and open seams. Inspect all components and functionality of closures: zippers, snaps, buttons, shanks, hook and loop closures, etc.

Any FR garments found to be damaged or defective as noted must be repaired, retired from use and replaced.

Donning and Doffing Procedures

For most effective protection, when putting on (donning) and during the wearing time, all buttons, zippers and fasteners must be closed and secure. The sleeves on garments with full/long sleeves must be rolled down and secured at cuffs. Shirts should be tucked into pants.

When taking off (doffing), all buttons, zippers and fasteners must be unfastened to prevent damage during removal.

Proper Use Consistent with NFPA 2113

NFPA 2113 specifies selection, care, use and maintenance requirements for garments that are compliant with NFPA 2112: Standard on Flame Resistant Garments for Protection of Industrial Personnel Against Flash Fire. Consult NFPA 2113 to ensure that selection and use of your FR garment is consistent with the applicable requirements.

Cleaning Instructions and Precautions

Proper care and cleaning of your FR garment will provide flame-resistant protection for the useful life of the garment, provided recommended care instructions are followed.

To ensure optimal protection, clean your FR garment with such frequency as to remove any dirt, abrasives and/or contaminants that may reduce the protective properties of the garment. Follow the instructions on the care label. Failure to follow the provided care instructions may result in damage of the garment and/or loss of the flame-resistant properties.

Maintenance Criteria and Methods of Repair Where Applicable

Flame-resistant garments can be repaired. Repairs must be made using only FR fabric, thread and components. Use of non-FR fabric or components renders the garment non-compliant.

Have damage repaired only by an authorized repair facility; alternatively, replace the clothing.

Retirement and Disposal Criteria

FR garments found to be damaged, defective, unable to be properly repaired, heavily soiled or stained with flammable substances that cannot be removed by cleaning should be removed from service. Additional factors that may lead to removing from service include exposure to flame, heat or hazardous materials and excessive exposure to direct sunlight or ultraviolet light.

Flame-resistant garments that must be retired from service should be destroyed or disposed of in a safe manner so that they cannot be reused.
