STORY

The more we work with the legendary blade makers of Japan, the more we know exactly what we want in a field knife - and the Best Made Wakui Knife has certainly earned its maker's stamp. The Wakui has a modified tanto shape: the chisel tip is incredibly strong and sharp, yet it sweeps down seamlessly, making for a long, steady slice as is used in dressing a fish. The Japanese-made white #2 steel is a pure steel that finds strength in simplicity; with a very high carbon content, it takes an edge very well (reducing sharpening time) and holds that edge against heavy wear. The hammered "Nashi-ji" finish on the blade resists tarnish and is balanced handsomely by the flamed white oak handle, which is charred for increased stability and moisture resistance. Holstered in its riveted black leather sheath, the Wakui Knife is secured with two safety straps, so it's only coming out when it's needed to halve anything in its path.

 

CARE

White steel sharpens easily and holds an edge well - in return, you'll have to keep it dry and well oiled, else the steel will tarnish.
